Taunt

Anyone else feel that we need to give tanks an AOE taunt? It could be simply done by changing "Inner Fire" to be an AOE controlled ability.

No, I don't think so. The game's not designed in that way it seems.
The tank's job first and foremost is to keep the biggest and nastiest enemy occupied, if they can do whilst keeping others hitting them too, well that's a bonus. In addition there are plenty of other mechanisms out there (e.g. AoE skills) that help in this regard too.
Personally, an AoE taunt would just make things exceptionally boring for the most part.
If you can be anything, be kind.

With the damage output that the mobs are capable of, an AoE taunt might even cause the tank to drop real quick. I feel that this current situation of only taunting the big mob and using CC for the rest helps to keep everyone awake and on their toes.

In all honesty i used to say the same thing. until i realized tanking was AOE dps and volcanic rune. there is no mitigation and nothing outside of blocking with sword and shield actually resembles tanking. The group mechanics in this game are lacking and the roles are simply not there at the end of the day its light armor Staves and aoe dps that taunts or heals.

Basically because there is no actuall mitigation due to soft caps . hard caps are meaningless past a certain point my sorc in light armor is 1200 points past soft cap, and there is very little difference in mitigation from 100 points over to 1200 over. maybe a few percent between the two . there is zero difference between my DK in heavy armor 350 over soft cap compared to my sorc in light running 1200 over cap.

things look great on paper and kudos for the devs on trying to be progressive. But if the wheel aint broke dont fix it. the progressiveness could have been better suited in extra features .

Well I like the idea but that's due to the "Log Horizon" Anime. There aren't any tanks in this game, unfortunately, HA is barely better than being naked. Apparently once you're fighting critters who are not your Level the Armour Bonuses taper off (there's a thread which documents this). So taunt would just turn into a way to die quickly unless it debuffed the critters as well as attracting them.

I disagree being a tank, we should hold every mob thus maintaining block while this is done so we do not fall so fast, if DPS and Heals are geared like they should be there should be no reason for them to be able to tank a mob longer than the time it takes to taunt that mob off of them.

I agree right now tanking is very lack luster.
