Are light armor jerkins seriously not a thing yet?

Crafters (or at least the ones I've talked to) have been wanting this for far too long now.
Robes are fine, but not for everyone. Just because they have the same stats doesn't mean they're of equal value. Cosmetic differences are just as important to players (roleplayers especially) as statistical differences.
Implementing this would take next to 0 effort, considering these already exist, and can be bought from NPC vendors or found in random loot.
There's no good excuse for why this hasn't been done yet, and there's certainly no excuse for why this can't be done. I'm asking, not as a single player, but as a large part of the player base; if there are any influential people reading this, make it happen.

emeraldbay✭✭✭✭✭They're...called jerkins in every instance in which they appear in-game. Some of them look like vests (bosmer and khajiit, perhaps), but they're still called jerkins in-game. This is a good question. I think there should be more variety in crafting across the board.
The crafting model we have is certainly a good start, I would like to see the ability to add more personal touches to everything we make.3 -

In case ZOS is trying to have some looks only available through drops, I would much rather see them do so through non craftable motifs than jerkins.0 -

The armor dye system is a good step in the right direction, but we need more than just color, in my opinion. At first, I thought that that they left out jerkins because many NPCs used them, but that's not really a valid reason. Sendarya✭✭✭Jerkin, tunic, whatever you want to call it, they need them in the game. I can tell you that I made my husband a lot of armor items, but he never wanted me to upgrade them much because he was waiting for one that didn't look like a flaming dress.
But yeah, considering the amount of bugs and content issues that need dealing with, I doubt this is high (or even at all) on their to do list.Owner of the Traveling Tavern, serving superior and consummate foods and drinks for all your leveling needs!

Cabot✭✭✭I'm very partial to the use of disguises that are available in-game.
Particularly, I lean toward the "Quendeluun Veiled Heritance", armor disguise. It is black leather and close-up views show some nice detail in the stitching.
Also, when wearing your weapon, (bow, staff, etc.) the weapon color changes to match the armor, the arrow quiver changes to black and there is a blood red insignia, staff also turns black with blood red trim and so on.
What does this have to do with light armor jerkins?, nothing really other than my hope more costumes/disguises show up to fill the wants and needs of the players. Maybe in the form of a shop associated with the thieves guild or something.0 -

Moonscythe✭✭✭✭✭I was so thrilled to find a light armor jerkin for my mage. Since Oblivion it has always been hard for female characters to find something decent looking to wear in pants. I feel stupid running around and fighting is a robe. If I'm in town or doing something non-violent then I'll put on a robe because I also hate seeing everyone armed to the teeth in a major city that's supposed to be reasonably safe. Yes, I role-play to that extent but I don't think the chaos of an anchor should be fought in a robe. poodlemasterb16_ESO✭✭✭✭✭My Pale Witch wears robes and walks around town. She puts on steel chest and pants when we go to war. Five light does just fine and we get the two heavy, blue nearly always, from our Blacksmith. Makes quite a difference in armor value.

The robes would be nicer if they opened at the front, like a long coat, after all we are wearing trousers underneath.

Indeed, Jerkins were a style of garment, not restricted to material, and @Ker.Rakb16 the shorter sleeved garments were tunics not vests.People believe what they either want to be true or what they are afraid is true!
