Anyway, people walk everywhere, or ride horses, so they don't get fat driving their car down to the 7-11 for a box of Twinkies.
Alchemy and magic replace amputation, thank goodness.
And, well, I find most elves to be hideously ugly, anyway.

Yep. If you went to Polynesia, it was pretty easy to suss out who the king of the island was. He'd be the biggest, fattest guy, with the biggest hat.
Big hats and big bellies; can't beat those as a sign of office.
Anyway. We all know the stereotype of the fat, demanding, not-caring-about-his-subjects kingly types, pretty much any petty mean king in cartoons is fat. "Bring me HASENPFEFFER!" etc.
