Storyline and continuity (Feedback and Constructive Criticism).

I didn't see a "Feedback" section of the forums so I am leaving this hear in hopes that the developers read this and take what I have to say into consideration.

I have finished the main storyline twice now with different characters. Each time I go from feeling like the storyline is great and everything is fine to "What the hell"?

After defeating Molag Bal, you regain your soul. This is all fine and dandy but afterwards you are sent by Cadwell to the next alliances area to continue the quest. This is also fine. In fact, I like this because it means I can get the whole story with one character. (Even if it feels like this was a tacked on attempt at the last minute to make the game feel bigger and longer than it really is.) My problem lies with the soul...or at least the NPC and questline interpretations of you not having one. Several of the quests throughout the story in all 3 factions rely on telling a story of you not having a soul and being the only one capable of completing a task because of this. But this is no longer the case.

Some may say this is not a big deal. I feel it is for one reason alone. Immersion...and the fact that this pulls you out of the games immersion every time it comes across. I do have a very simple solution.

Meridia does not return your soul until you have finished seeing the perspective of the war from the sides of all 3 factions. Cadwell assists you in doing this obviously and he should act as though he has knowledge of your past exploits that others do not. After seeing all there is to see of the storyline for all 3 factions, Meridia can give one final quest to regain your soul.

Please consider this or something else to remedy this issue. For myself, and I am sure many others, it is a serious distraction from the immersion of the game itself. There are other continuity issues with the overall story of Elder Scrolls as well as bugs and issues that I am sure you are already addressing. I do not wish to address any of these in this thread.

Thank you.

Well, when you go into Cadwell's Silver, it's spelled out that they cannot see your soul - it's there, just 'protected' from their influence and view.

So, from their perspective, you don't have a soul, even though you know you do.

Cadwell hiding your soul does not explain how you can complete a quest that only a person without a soul can complete according to the quests own story and description.

It may be because you have a bit of extra soul from whoever sacrificed themselves.

It could be something left over from not having a soul.

It could be something Meridia did when she caught your soul or something that happens from having been soulless and gotten it back.

Or, it could be a result of being an avatar for Akatosh for a time. Your soul slide back into a container that held a portion of divinity. That's isn't something that would leave you untouched.

Myself, I go with the Former Avatar protection route.

I go the 'protected by a Daedric Prince' route. Unless it's a direct effort by another Daedric Prince to nab your soul, it's not being touched by anything or anyone.

Well, whatever the case may be, they need to explain it in the story. As it stands it makes no sense and we shouldn't be left to making up our own story from our imagination to fill the gaps.

I don't know if I agree with that. There's lots in the Elder Scrolls that isn't explained or is full of conflicting explanations. Enough has happened to the Vestige's and his/her soul that it's safe to say that the normal rules no longer apply. Whether it's because of being touched by Akatosh, or previously having your soul stolen, or having the protection of Meridia, or perhaps just eating a magical wishing fish, the Vestige's soul is no longer considered to be the same as that of others.

Not everything needs an explanation, especially when they clearly have bigger adventures planned for down the road and may touch on it there. They have Cadwell explain why others will see you as soulless, I think they can trust the player to make a connection to the experiences the Vestige has had to explain his returned soul's resilience.

Hell, another option is that Molag Bal inserted a tiny bit of himself into your soul before he lost it. It wouldn't be something to put past the Lord of Schemes.
