Seasonal Holiday Events based on Tamriellic Calendar

I have been waiting for news on events as well. That's a big part of MMO's I think. It brings the community together to hunt down event items.
Maybe add some novelty things, costumes, ect. Things just to relax out of the norm and enjoy ourselves as a community of players.

Glad you brought up the question OP!

I would be fine with that, but keep it lore friendly.

I love the seasonal events in LOTRO, so that's a thumbs up from me!

I bet this is something that will happen once the release rush of bugfix'ing and rushing out content to satiate players slows down.

The developers really need to consider adding seasonal holidays events for special occasions, which are based on the Tamriellic Calendar. This is not only important from a design decision, but also important from a business design (re-subbing for new content to enjoy). Adding holiday events also makes the world feel more alive while giving players more content to enjoy, such as holiday specific quests, achievements, recipes, etc. Listed below are some holidays Zenimax could add to ESO...

    Source: imperial-library.info/content/calendar-tamriel

    New Life Festival - January
Today the people of Tamriel are having the New Life Festival in celebration of a new year. The tradition of free ale at all the taverns of Tamriel continues.

    Heart's Day - February
This holiday is celebrated all over Tamriel as Heart's Day. It seems that in every house, the Legend of the Lovers is being sung for the younger generation.

The Day of the Dead - April
The superstitious say that the dead rise on this holiday to wreak vengeance on the living.

    Merchants's Festival - July
The bargain shoppers of the known world are out in force today and it is little wonder, is a holiday called the Merchants's Festival. Every marketplace and equipment store has dropped their prices to at least half.

    Harvest's End - August
Perhaps no other festival fires the spirit of Tamriel as much as the one held today, Harvest's End. The work of the year is over, the seeding, sowing, and reaping. Now is the time to celebrate and enjoy the fruits of the harvest, and even visitors to the celebrated region are invited to join the farmers. The taverns offer free drinks all day long, an extravagance before the economy of the coming winter months.

    Witches's Festival - October
Known throughout Tamriel as the Witches's Festival when sorcery and religion clash.

    Warriors Festival - November
Most all the local warriors, spellswords, and rogues come to the equipment stores and blacksmiths where all weapons are half price.

    New Life Festival - December
Originally a holiday for a long forgotten god of debauchery, it has become a time of gift giving, parties, and parading.

    1. Fixes before new content.
    2. Abiding 1. I agree this would be wonderful. Could even have a special holiday quest line for each one!

    Within; Without.

Meh, i don't like those imported holidays in an MMO. Tamriel has it own holidays. And it was always a strength of Elder Scrolls to keep the own lore strong and not import the rest, just because it's so normal at any other MMO.

    I support this.

We NEEEEEEEEEEEEEED to have content added that keeps us coming back to Log In to ESO after we've reached max level on all characters we plan on leveling. Trials is NOT enough.

OP's idea is a great start to ideas needed for incentives to keep logging back in day after day!

Did you even read the post? These are all holidays that exist within the TES universe. OP I would also love to see them implement holidays based on the Tamriellic calendar.

    Yes, it would be great.

Might be tricky though, to do it well. Whereas other games would have to just make one event in one area for all the players to play, ESO - with their three alliances - would have to make it in three separate areas. Still doable of course, just more work for the same output really.
If you can be anything, be kind.

I don't think there is a lot worse than seeing a decorated Christmas tree in a fantasy MMO, but whatever floats your boat.

I felt Lotro did festivals well, but they have been very lacklustre in other games I have played.

I love it and it would be nice to see come in to game if WoW can do i'm sure ESO can do also :)
