So it looks like another place has fallen to the bot infestation. Pushing out Craglorn and making the console version should be the least of your worries at the moment. Its better to be thinking smart on how to counter act bots. Just look at this.

But at least we had a lovely gamemaster come and help

I think its best to set a level requirement for quests as in be around 3-5 levels under the quest's level. This will stop a mass horde of bots doing the quests that give a lot of gold and items. Also, ive read that the teleport and phasing UFO bots are because the game tells you where your player is at, so you can use scripts to be able to change your location. Im not sure if that will be a simple thing to change, but that should be another thing that should happen.

I have a few thoughts in my head as to why this may be a *** poor solution, but can someone articulate why globally banning Chinese IPs wouldn't solve this?

They will start using Proxies to disguise their IP's if they aren't already.

But, it is possible to trace Proxies to their hub and ban the hub, but it just takes more work.

They'd just sneak through with proxies. Also can bet your ass a ton of these are based in USA and other countries *you wouldn't think* goldfarmers would be coming from.
