Messed Up Quest (Restore the Silvenar)

1)"Interrogate Houndsmen Witches" Isn't working. When I hit the npcs, and when their health is low, they stop fighting, so that I would approach them and talk to them. But I get no option to talk or click them.

2)"Kill the Hound." Tried killing him, until he got stuck inside the tree. Cant see him, cant kill him. Re logged. Quit area, logged in and out, still didn't solve it.

How many times should I abandon and restart this quest? Just give me the exp now Im tired of repeating the stupid quests.

i have no options to interact with the bewitchers either. although interestingly enough, the first time i did the quest, it worked with no hitch, but i abandoned the game (because i accidently killed a spinner) and restarted the quest. doesnt matter how many times ive restarted that quest now, i cannot talk with the bewitchers now

Often these issues are caused by a conflict with another quest in your journal. I honestly can't explain it, but group dungeon quests. Have a tendency to break, or bug unrelated quests. Check your characters journal to see if you have such a quest, and abandon any you might have. That usually resolves the conflict, and the quest you are having a problem with will start to work immediately.

This particular workaround really needs to become common knowledge in the game. It fixes so many apparently broken quests, and it requires so little time, and effort it should be the first fix most players should go for. Rather then going through all the trouble of logging out, or sitting around for days waiting for a server maintenance to clear up the hiccup.

I have heard that advice before, so then went and completed all other Malabal Tor quests in my journal. I am now in Reapers Marsh, and still unable to complete that quest....

I completed all Malabar Tor quests now as well, just that Silvenar quest. I don't have any dungeon quests, not sure if the Cyrodill quests affect it or not.

Apparently, the Silvenar quest messes up when we abandon it and restart. I almost killed the final npc to finish it, but I had many skills that push him back until he got stuck inside the tree bark

This is just great...

I was minding my own business doing the quest when some turd just burst in and fought the boss and I had to fight it to not die and now it's all ruined.

Hah, i don't even have a ladder (or whatever is supposed to be there) to get to the room with the final boss xD.

Just abandoned this too because I killed a Spinner due to failing a riddle that was nowhere near obvious and me and a friend are now stuck with the same problem. I'm really really getting annoyed with this crap (VR4) please fix this SOON or I will unsubscribe and never come back. thanks.

Nope! Still haven't completed it.... and its a main quest so i feel like reapers marsh is missing something

Zenimax, please we really need help here, this is a main story arc for my veteran progression, why are you even bothering adding content like craglorn if only a small minority of players even are at VR10 either by exploit or pure ignorance for the beautiful world you have created. You SHOULD be caring about the players who get stuck on the long road towards VR10 by actually caring and enjoying your game. But instead you are catering to the very people who are now spamming my guild chats with their SELL DAEDRIC 300K, because they have a bank full with rare motifs from grabbing them pre "slighlty lowered chances" nerf. Many Many Thanks for crapping on us honest players.

This is so much ruining my enjoyment of the game, It is really really hard for me to not get verbally nasty, so ANGRY am I about this. Also GODDAMMIT when will you fix the broken Worldbosses, there are quite a few and it's been a while, it is really really irritating.

I managed to talk to one of the witches, but then all the others disappeared, and it says I still need to interrogate them.

still not fixed, noticed that enemies are regularly two shotting me now, dealing 700-1k damage hits, way to go Zeni, makes the game much more enjoyable. Also have not heard from customer support, wrote a bunch of inquiries about my problem, but get ignored atm, seems to be more important to advertise craglorn.

Wow, I thought it was just me who had this problem. Glad I searched the forums. (I also abandoned the quest after some random so-and-so ruined the third spinner for me.) I wonder if a GM could reset the Housdsman Bewitchers for those of us who are affected so we can proceed with the quest line...?

This one broke for me also recently. He disappeared just as the last enemies were being killed. Quest marker was there but he is no where in sight. Tried everything to get him to show up but no dice.

I asked customer support for some manual help in setting the queststage so I can actually continue this game I AM PAYING FOR. I let you all know if they can help and do something about it.

Update: A very nice GM named John was trying to help me fix my issue the other day, we tried resetting the instance and other tweaks, but so far nothing has helped, I assume its a bug in the code that can't be solved with normal GM tools, I can only hope that it is forwarded to the devs and adressed in an upcoming patch. It is pretty frustrating to have your Main Character stuck on a Story Quest required for character progression. I certainly wont redo the character, I already dumped more than 15 days played and trait researches from the very first day, so If it is not fixed by mid june I will unsubscribe and move on. I might be back when the game goes F2P to see if the bug is fixed ;-)

A very helpfull GM partied up with me today and helped me bypass the timid hound witches, I was successfully able to complete the quest. Until it is fixed for good, I can recommend anyone stuck at that part to contact gms about it and help you through it, they are aware of that particular issue now.

How do you find a GM to party up with you? I didn't know that was even a possibility.

Write them about your issue via the Website, which usually gets you a quick reply, then they will contact you and meet you ingame to party up and solve the issue. They did it for me and my friend who got also stuck on this quest. Very nice service actually on their part. It feels awesome to finally be past this blockade, The game is much more fun again with that out of the way (only some loud cursing here and there from the unfair difficulty at times now ^^)

Just in case anyone else is having this issue!!!

I've been sitting on this quest being bugged this way for a little over a week now. Had progressed, like a couple others, well beyond Malabal Tor and every time i came back it was still bugged and it was getting frustrating.

I arrived here earlier tonight at this forum and read what blaschwinge said about a GM getting him past that part in the quest and I thought, "well... if a GM can do it for me, why not other players?"

I stood down the hill from the platform where the guardian stands that you have to kill as step two of this quest chain. I stood down where you have to perform the FIRST part of the quest of collecting silver shards by killing the baddies down below and started asking any players who were down there on that part of the quest (NOT the part that's bugged bc it would often take a few minutes to get people to listen to me and then they would be past what i needed help on) if they would mind helping me out by grouping.

After a few failed attempts, i managed to find someone who would group with me and tagged along with them until they completed those two parts and caught up to me on having to interrogate the bewitchers.

I helped my new friend attack the bewitchers to where they cowered in fear and then waited as SHE talked to them (since i still couldn't) and LO AND BEHOLD when she finished talking to them it counted for me as well!!

We did this for all three and I was able to move forward and complete the rest of the quest!

---TL:DR---
Grab someone else (random person in the area or friend who hasn't done that quest yet) and group with them through that part of the quest and their interrogations will count for you as well, clearing you of that bug and allowing you to move forward in the quest!

Same as the original poster. I knocked the houndsman out of the tree and could not finish the quest. I abandoned it and re-started. Now I CANNOT interrogate the houndsmen witches. They cower but will not engage dialog.

Sad this was not fixed yet with the last patches, for now only the work-around mentioned above helps: party up with someone who can get you through witches by staying close to him when he talks to them.

same problem here when you have to interrogate houndsman bewitchers.

Having the same issue here. I had to restart quest and now I can't interrogate the Bewitchers.

People are reporting this since May17... as of July 12 the issue is not resolved. What does it take to fix this?

It's amazing to me that this is still an issue. I eventually did just what @raenofgod_ESO suggested and I was able to finish the quest and move on.

still bugged I cant talk to the hundsman for dorthiel.....how many months is this now....
