chat box stops working

Not sure what causes it, but periodically I get a bug where I can't type anything (like the keypresses work for combat but not while in chat box - as in, it's not my keyboard, it's the game) and forward slash makes a '.' and that is all. I can't even let people I'm in group with know what's going on, only a full game restart fixes it.
