Who is having fun?

I love the Elder Scrolls Series(since Arena when it launched) and generally like mmo's. I really enjoyed leveling to 50. After hitting vet 5 I feel bored and with no reason to log on. The three vet instances I could run with my vet 1 to 5 friends I came to the game with we have beaten 4 or 5 times each, Cyrodil isn't nearly as fun as I had hoped and there's pretty much nothing to do besides quests which are imo well done overall but if that's all there is why is this an mmo? I came to the game with 6 friends who we play games together everyday over voice chat and since ESO came out I feel like we are all playing a single player game while we chat on mumble. Anyone else feel this way? I wsnt interested in wildstar but now looking at the fact they have - several raids, Battle Grounds, PvP servers. Arena's, and you know things you can do together.....

To be honest, it's fizzled out a bit for me too.

It started when I hit vet content. I rolled a character on Daggerfall and Ebonheart because I detest the AD areas.

I've tried to level through them but I get half way through Auridon and delete it. I can't stand it. So what happens when I get my Daggerfall character to VR1 ..... it gets sent to Auridon.

I now have a character sat at VR1 i'll never play again.

I'm going to get my Ebonheart to VR1 and then it will be time for me to move on.

PvP. Cyrodiil was fun but it never changes. I heard DAoC developers were working on it so I had high hopes, we used to have awesome fights in that game.

Plus I like getting rewards and they nerfed that in PvP. I just do the 20 kill quest daily and then leave again.

And then there is the constant nerfs. Nerfs to XP in various places and the container nerf. ZOS is losing the fight against the bots and punishing us in the process. I don't like the direction it's going.

Remember the whole "play your way" crap? As i've said before, you can only play your way if you're playing a cookie cutter build once you hit vet content. And to those that keep saying there are no cookie cutter builds ... you do make me chuckle.

What annoys me the most is i've been looking forward to an Elder Scrolls MMO for a damn long time.

For months before and the first few weeks of live I talked this game up to everyone I knew. I barely log in now. I haven't once complained, whined or moaned about anything ... not even on these forums. I've had the odd rage at ZOS when they do something stupid like loot/XP nerfs but that's it.

And then there is Craglorn. Group content to get to VR12. The only people I group with are my wife and a few friends, none of which play this game, so it's content i'll never see. Doesn't bother me, it honestly doesn't.

What does bother me is them putting crap like that out while there is still no sign of crime, Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild .... actual integral parts of Elder Scrolls games.

I've never walked through Arena, Daggerfall, Redguard, Oblivion or Skyrim thinking to myself "let's go to Craglorn" ... you know why?

Because it's not important to Elder Scrolls games.

And yes, sadly that did anger me when they announced that and no sign of content that should have been in the game from the start like DB and Thieves.

And no, I didn't go "back to wow". I went back to Fallout 3 to work on some mods.

I was invited to the Wildstar beta, I checked it out. I didn't like it, at all.

I love it. Both alone and with others.

The adventure zones and the content coming might be more in your flavour.

Hard(impossible) to party up or play together at some instances because one have already completed the area etc, is something that should be looked at.

I could be v10 but so much to do on the way for me.

I guess the challenge for the devs will be, now that players have quested through to veteran levels, how do they keep it fresh and exciting?

I'm still looking at the game as pretty "new". If little changes in a couple of months, I'd consider moving on to something different. Personally, though, I'm prepared to keep at it and see where ESO can go.

I really love the game. I do not like the nerfs at all and I certainly don't like the bots all over the damn place. The game needs some serious work but I also play SWTOR and that needed some serious work too and now that game is a blast and I love to RP there.

ESO needs to put back all the loot. They need to get rid of the bots and yes I know that takes time but they obviously need to hire some outside help for that.

They need to give us the Dark Brotherhood quests and the Thieves Guild and they need to give us housing, some don't like it but a heck of a lot of people are playing Wildstar for the housing. A lot of people came back to SWTOR for the housing. Housing is an integral part of the Elder Scrolls Series. I'm sure you all remember working for coin to get that Solitude house in Skyrim.

Phasing is terrible. We should be able to help our friends and not be blocked from seeing their quests and another thing I absolutely hate, there should never be solo content in an MMO game. Really, if people want to do the content solo, that's fine but they should never be forced into it.

Taverns and cities should not be phased so RPers can play together. There is no RP community yet but we are working on it. It's difficult when you can't even see who is on to RP with. The cities should be bustling, not with just a few people running around and if their engine can't handle that, they need outside help with that too.

I don't understand how they could make the vampires so strong and the werewolves so weak. Did two different people work on these and not get together and discuss what they needed to do? I don't know. I just know that werewolf should have more than just the ultimate fixed. My pack should be able to run together in wolf form and do some major damage.

Now, understand, I love the game and I play it every day. Every morning I log into the game to quest a bit before I head to work but it pissed the hell out of me to see bots flying through the sky stealing all of the materials I needed to outfit my 7 characters. I want to see this game survive and I think it will if the devs read posts like this and fix what needs to be fixed and change what needs to be changed.

Am I still having fun, yes, solo or grouped, I just wish it was easier to group.

I got a bit bored during VR7 and 8, so I created an alt to play with when I feel like doing so. Otherwise I still find it fun as long as I do a few dungeons every now and then, or go to Cyrodiil to keep it mixed up.

Yea... they desperately need something else for people to do besides quests and PvP in Cyrodiil (which is pretty much pointless until you are 50+ unless you run with a huge group).

All I can do when I log on is quest quest quest quest... The quests are great, but I would love to actually have something else to do to change it up a bit. They are adding trials, but that doesn't help me because I'm not max level. They need other content for people to do while leveling too.

I'm having lots of fun, then again though I don't consume content at the same rate as more hardcore players. I have one character at 28 and one at 20. So I play for 4-5 hours a week. As a result it doesn't feel like a grind, I'm not slogging through content and I still have loads of game to play even before new content comes rolling out.

I hate to say it as I am really enjoying the ride so far, but I do not see much to do after 6 months. I tend to play mmos for years but there is nothing now that would keep me paying the sub after a yr.

You are right about the solo game with socializing aspects, I too play solo mostly and chat with my gaming friends on skype. The few times we are all on the same page for quests or running dungeons is few and far between. Thats ok, I can live with that, but once you have ground out your gold for inventory and mount upgrades, (without cheating), found all the motiffs, leveled your crafting and made it thru vet, researched your crafts.......other than chasing down achievements I do not see much to do in game as far as goals. You cant even chat while fishing, which is silly.4

If we had housing and decorations to find for it, or make that would help. It would open up more role playing options and social activity. Guild houses would be fun too. If we had the ability to phase into our friends quests so we could join them that would be nice. The grouping tool is next to useless now, long waits even if a healer and tank are queued, spamming chat for groups for lower level dungeons takes forever now due to the bulk of the players outleveling it and no reason to run it again.

If there was some aspect to selling our goods then we could enjoy crafting more, as it stands now the guild ah is cumbersome, and with all the cheating sales are down for goods. I'm not going to get into pvp, as I gave that up but others could suggest longevity tips for that area.

i really dont see the longevity other than perhaps creating a character in each class and zone and taking them thru to 49.

fingers crossed they will be adding in more features

Yes there are several benefits to leveling at the speed of coral growth like we do. My highest is 33, and I have a couple other alts in their teens. Still nowhere near running out of content, they have fewer bugs in the lower level content, and am still a long way from getting to the vet levels.

It's so easy to get distracted by randomly roaming for treasure chests, going on harvesting runs, hitting sidequests, poking around corners, fiddling with different armor motifs, etc.

I've put in hundreds of hours already and I have no question I'll still be playing for months to come. I'll probably just be getting to vet levels by the time they start releasing the other guilds then I'll simply HAVE to roll yet another alt. :-D

Exactly. I rarely hit level cap until around the time the cap gets raised. Happened in WoW, happened in LOTRO, happened in SW: TOR, likely happen here. Unless I'm in a zone I truly hate I take my time and explore every corner of the map. I like the ESO rewards me for doing so :)

Still yeah , i do have fun doing the quests and learning more about the ES lore and such, it is quite nice to visit regions of each race.

Still , im vet7 and this part of the game is almost over , when i get there i will decide if i stay or if i go and honestly , for now im thinking about going.

Speaking of randomly roaming for treasure chests, I could get into that but, I suck at the lockpicking game and with the timer and limited lockpicks I can't even practice to get better. I got good at lockpicking in Skyrim but this one is more like the one in Oblivion and I sucked at that one, too. I wish there was an alternate like a spell to open or make more time or something. I get so discouraged when I see a chest and just have to ignore it.

Hard to say no, I mean no to having fun. I mean as I'm so slow on leveling and all, shrug. I am enjoying, that's for sure. I like the lore, I like the world (best graphics in MMOs, Wildstar is just cartoon which I do not like, to be honest it is for kids but just my opinion), music, the quests, all there is and to me, there's a lot. Okay you have done all of those or listened all the music? Did you so called rush? Did you read anything along the way?
Not that it matters if you are bored and all. I feel sorry for you as I am just starting and for example PvP is very exciting to me. Hey I'm not even at level 20 but I have killed some in Cyrodiil and it was fun to do:)
I guess it depends how you play the game. If you want new content shrug, you rushed again maybe not, there's those new adventure zones soon available.
To answer your question, I am having fun.
And I didn't even mention RP, but that's another story. Still, I like the emotes and the immersion you can have here.
    Just my opinion.

    Cheers...

I was horrible at first too, but now can do Master w/o problems. Here's a couple tips: first, buy a bunch of lockpicks so no worries on running out, 2nd, stick to simple chests.

For each pin start pressing down until you see it wiggle, IMMEDIATELY let up. If it doesn't stick in place at least you know where it starts wiggling, so just press again and get ready to let up at that point. The "wiggle point" does not change between attempts for each pin within the chest. You should be able to get it on the 2nd pass almost every time. Some pins may have to go all the way down, so don't let up until you see the "wiggle".

Keep practicing on simple until you can get it, then try the others.

Man, I love this game! And I've been playing since beta and early release. The general theme is that people who love playing take their time and don't rush through content. I have 4 characters: one at lvl 29, another at 14, one at about lvl7, and another alt that just serves as holding place for materials. Several tips for maximizing enjoyment: take time and explore, read lorebooks, develop crafting skills with all characters, build rapport with other players (join guilds, form groups, casually chat with other players in vicinity, etc). Also, do research on character builds so you can develop characters that excel at healing, dps, and tanking. The whole thing is fascinating; the whole world is beautiful - the locales, the music, everything. I know I'm gushing here, but I haven't had much problems with bugs or lag. I'll be playing for a long time to come!

I'm having fun but I'm a completionist who has to find everything in a zone before I leave it, and thus I don't progress quickly. Since I have one alt in each faction this means that when I get to VR levels I'll just be doing everything all over but harder, and I suspect the game will lose a lot of luster for me then because the combat isn't that compelling and I don't PvP.

I don't have a lot of sympathy for the people who rushed through leveling, but I think it's true that there needs to be something more waiting at the top. Not sure what that should be though.
