XP question from a new player

finalresting
Hello, I just started playing. I have played some other MMO's before and is seems to me that the leveling in ESO is significantly slower. I am wondering if this is just me? am I doing something wrong?

No, it is by design 'slower'. Though to many people it seems 'too fast'

ok, Im fine with it being slow, I just wanted to make sure that it was by design,

I actually though the leveling speed is just right. After around level 20, if I focused on questing it was about a level a night in a 4-5 hr sitting

After lvl 5 it slows down and when you hit Veteran ranks it's of course harder and so slower (though a lot of people seem baffled by the fact that they can't face roll in what is supposed to be harder content)

    Hmmmm...

It's not 'just a bit' harder. Once you get into VR even trash mobs hit like trucks and have tons of HP.

Far from expecting to faceroll stuff, I hesitate to take on even two mobs at once at VR2 and find I'm constantly searching for the easy way into every situation. The solo instances are a nightmare.
'Clever' sigs get old real fast - just like this one.

    Let's see...

EQ1 level 1 to 50 took the upside of 1000 hours of play back in 1999.

In EVE Online, it took me many months (maybe a year) just to finish out the Drones skill tree.

In WoW, I hit max level from a clean start, never having played before, in less than a 90 day game card. I can't imagine why they even bothered with a level mechanic in that game.

ESO was released in April and I have 3 characters over lvl 10, and one nearly level 40, and I don't even play that much.

I'd say levelling could be properly described with a number of different adjectives, but "significantly slower" is not among them unless you're comparing it to WoW, but why would anyone bother with that.

There were level 50 players the first week. If you are questing and killing to level then you can skip some stuff. If you're doing every quest and whatnot, yes, it will take ~ a month to hit 50.

Veteran ranks are currently pretty slow. You can go up pretty fast running dungeons, but you still have to do all of the VR1-5 quests to unlock the final areas.

Where did I say 'a bit'?
