Hircines Tribute

Any advice on fight tactics for the Hercines Tribute quest? I have tried a few different things and did notice that the effects of the Ashen Grip Armor still work as well as my weapon enchantments.

A good fight strategy would be appreciated.

Do you mean the quest "Hircine's Gift", the quest to become a full werewolf which requires you to kill a "tribute"?

Your question depends entirely on your level. If you're the right level for the quest, you can practically mash your face on the keyboard. The lowest I've witnessed someone doing it is level 24.

There are four possible tributes to kill. Two trolls, a mammoth, and a snake. The snake and one of the trolls are hard fights for lower level players. One of the trolls can be easy with fire damage. (No I don't remember which is which). The mammoth can be easy if you are good at the active combat system and can stay out of his attacks. He has a lot of health but all of his skills are easily avoided. Sometimes you get unlucky and he just basic attacks over and over, which is actually harder to live through than his skill attacks.

Leaving the quest for 5-10 minutes resets the instance I believe, and you can get a different one to spawn. Only one will spawn at a time.

I did this at lv 20. any earlier and the snow troll which is a nonelite regens life faster than you can take it off. stacks stam points, kite the troll get behind him and nail em. bring plenty of health pots and remeber to not kite to far off or you will reset him. can enter the instance repeatly every 5 mins till you get the snow troll.

Just like Xithian said, the Mammoth would be your best bet if you are lower level (~24-34). I finished the quest at level 25 with my NB by leaving the quest for a bit (usually logged onto my alt for a few minutes then tried back) until the Mammoth spawned. Had to do it twice because I was the unlucky recipient of the basic attack *** Mammoth the first time around. Second time, he was easy to defeat by dodging and striking from behind.

I fought the mamouth a couple of times but my attacks don't seem to do hardly any damage and I was farily unlucky with it just using its basic attack

You want to stay beside the mammoth as much as possible. In my experience he tended to spin around and basic attack more if you get completely behind him at every chance. Staying just to one side barely out of the red for his area attacks seemed to get the best results.

I was level 39 going in though. I *did* fight him quite a few times as I stayed in the instance till level 41, grinding in all of my werewolf glory. I wish being a werewolf was that fun after...
