Day/Night cycle Duration.

I think the day/night cycle is WAY to long! I have always disliked playing any game in the dark cuz I cant see everything and end up missing things that I would have seen and enjoyed in the day time. And when its dark its too dark. Very hard to see things and I have good vision and a sweet PC/monitor setup. So, stays dark for way to long & its a bit to dark out when its night time in the game. Love to explore and SEE things!
Now the up side to the cycle as is now is that it stays light out for a long time and that I love!!! Could make night time in the game much shorter! B)

Maybe adjust your gamma settings? Night is not so dark that you can't see anything. Not by a long shot.

Day last for 4 real hours and night last for 4 real hours -- The length of it seems fine to me, but I do wish that the night be much more dark then it is now.

I think night is actually 2 hours not 4. Day is 4 though. I feel night is too short. I want more. World is much more beautiful at night.

I like the night. Besides, even if they speeded up the cycle it would still be dark half the time. ;)

I wish it would be done in real time. None of this 4hrs/4hrs or 4hrs/2hrs stuff. I want to see 12hrs day and 12hrs night!

Yeah. You might want to adjust your settings. Night isn't that bad.

Had a ticket open last week asked the GM he said the day/night cycle is 2.5 hours "I think".

Personally my eyesight is not great and I find the night time too dark and hard to see.....at times I have quit playing because of it to come back later for daytime. I prefer WoW's version where they give you the feel of night without it being so dark. That is easier on the eyes. Altho if it were up to me I wouldn't bother with the cycle, it isn't as though it affects the storyline.....it just interrupts my gaming.

Ya this is indeed the best system, I was really sad that ZO didn't follow the very successful pattern of other MMO´s there.

To play at 5PM and its dark doesn't make sense to me, just like it doesn't make sense to play at 1AM and its light.

Day/night cycles actually affect elements of gameplay (mainly for vampires), so it would be a little annoying if players who work during the day (or night) only got to experience the game world during the night (or day).

I was thinking the dark of night was pretty mild, almost unnoticeable. I tried playing with my gamma once but, then daylight got a bit dusky.

That is an interesting concern, as I never played a Vampire at any ESO game I didn't know that it actually has such a big impact.

Well, it's not a huge effect right now, but I'm hoping it eventually will be. In the single-player games, stage 4 vampires couldn't even leave their caves during the day.

One of the moments in Oblivion that had me laughing at myself for quite a while... I was trying out vampire on a divergent save game and trying to get into a shop. I decided to try the "wait" function. I thought I could time it right and just run in before the DoT killed me. So as the little sun icon drifts along I hear all of this clanking and chinking. "What the heck?", I wonder. The wait screen slowly fades back to game play...a pile of ash in front of the store. The sound was my armor hitting the ground. Sun damage does indeed happen while using "wait".

More on topic, I quite enjoy the day/night cycle. I also am very glad that it isn't a half hour cycle or something that moves so fast it's unbelievable. I do find myself missing my Khajiit night vision though...

Well, vampires change every TES game it seems. Oblivion sunlight would burn you to ash like it does in the movies and whatnot. Skyrim you would simply not regenerate health mana or stamina during the day, but increased regen enchants counteracted it, And there was increased frost resistance to go along with the decresed fire resistance. Now in TESO, sunlight does nothing to you, but the fire damage taken increase is killer with no other resistances added, and only health regen is stunted while the other 2 are increased through traits.

I totally agree..they really should make it where a vampire is only able to regenerate health at nite or directly after feeding. Stage 4 shouldn't even be able to go into the sun...period. It would make the game more fun and actually show more of what real vampire characteristics should be. It would also make the idea of being a vampire even more challenging.

Then there is that. What is a real vampire? Vampires and their strengths and weaknesses are all only myths that anyone can bend to their desires.

There have been moveis/shows with vampires that turn into monsters, ones with vampires that can actually turn into bats and fly away, ones where they burst into flames the moment sun touches them, ones where it sizzles them until they get into shade, ones with daywalkers that have no problems in sunlight, ones who need to drink blood every second, ones where they drink it when they feel like it.

In skyrim you could transform like WW. Cant do that in TESO. And there is nothing in any of the games that forces us into some kind of blood craze where we attack anyone in sight just because we are deep in the vampirism stages. And we dont even "Bite" people in TESO, we drain essence as way of feeding.

There is no real "This is a vampire". It will probably be different in the next TES game.

The difference between night and day for a vampire is how long it takes for your sneak eye to close. It's just expected that you would have some sort of draw back for being in the sun. I understand that ZOS wanted to allow you to play your character when you wanted but it would be nice to know when the sun comes up they won't be able to regen health or take more damage or something stupid like that. I also noticed in a recent patch note that fighters guild abilities were tuned to work on vamps so it's good to know that they work now. There's something.

Werewolves on the other hand seem to be highly watered down. Health and stamina don't seem to increase in pools or regen after transforming. Damage does't increase either. I am actually better off staying as a humanoid so i could use other skills to debuff and stun to get the kills then fearing and chasing to get the kills. I think there should be those increases but as soon a full moon comes out then you go into a blood craze and you can't control your character while it fights everything that isn't a werewolf around it for a game hr (whatever that happens to be in min) or your character dies. Imagine getting messed up by your buddy because he's a werewolf and a full moon came out or the same thing happened to the enemy in Cyrodiil.

No to a darker night-time, I want to be able to see where I'm going, it's bad enough we have night-time at all, too dark and I'm just going to get lost.

I'd like the night to be somewhat shorter than the day (say, 3h day, 2h night - which would even be somewhat realistic right now in the northern hemisphere). The times just shouldn't add up to 24 hours, since then you'd have always the same ingame time in your primary playing time (always night if you're unlucky).
Does anybody have the exact times that are in game now?
