Conspiracy theory

So the PC version is now awash with complaints from players hitting VR content and hating it/unsubbing.

The console version has just been hugely delayed.

I'm thinking the delay is due to the removal of VR content, so they don't repeat the mistake.

They've already hinted at alternate methods of leveling through the VR ranks. I don't think there's been anything official, but most people are under the impression that sooner or later Cadwell's quests will not be the only way reasonably level VR. So no, they won't be removing anything. They will most likely be adding something in the form of new content.

Also, believing that they would be pushing a game release back for half a year because of forum drama really is "conspiracy nut" worthy. Good job.

I imagine it was delayed due to the numerous problems they are experiencing with the PC version and they want to get things running much more smoothly before porting it over.

I doubt they will remove the VR stuff, but they plan to make some changes to improve it.

They stated the reason it is delayed in their announcement. Now take your meds and go back to sleep.

Leveling VR with quests stays, let not get fooled, veteran levels is much of the same as WOW gear levels, benefit in ESO is that you get hundreds of quests added not just daily you can repeat.
But the mechanism is much of the same you work hard for minor benefits

However from 1.1 PvP will work better to level, guess they also change so you can level up with dungeon runs making more dungeons VR dungeons, grinding will also be easier.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Yes, too many bugs and mediocre reviews, fixing bugs on console version is harder as changes must be reviewed, at least changes in the executable.
An release in 6 months has some benefits, first the game will have fixed lots of problems and have more content so we have more of an endgame.
In 6 months it will be far more consoles on the marked resulting in more sales and it will also let them use the add campain to get more pc players too.

As I understand Christmas release was the original plan for the console version before Sony got them to speed it up.
In that case they also have the PS3 version of Skyrim to think about.

They may tweak VR content but remove it, no chance.

This is just a bit of fun by the way. I agree with them delaying it. The conspiracy bit, is that in my view, releasing on consoles (a market with a higher percentage of casual players), with VR in any way resembling what it currently is (this has been by far the main reason I have seen for guildies giving up well before max level). Would have been commercial suicide.

If they can avoid that and give it enough time for the reviews of the PC game to be forgotten, they stand a very good chance of being the first successful mainstream console MMO and making a fortune due to that.

The longer it's delayed, the more it will be accepted. I personally think that it was a very bad idea to get people to level, via the other factions quests. I think that part will be removed, between now and console release.

I don't think we will ever see another game copy that idea. Successful ideas will always be copied, that one will be a cautionary tale.
