How to heal?

Hekx
Hekx
Trying a templar with healing staff .
What spells/morphs are the best for healing? I haven't done much grouping or any high level play (damn alt-itis) , so I'm not sure what to use.
And looking through the resto staff and templar lines, there are enough different healing skills that I'm assuming choosing the wrong one will result in mass death of whatever party is depending on me.
Which while undoubtedly entertaining, would probably not get me invited back into many groups.

Find out which ones you like. Templars healing ritual is a great aoe heal while the rest staff line has nice HoT spells. I would use a skill calc and look at the morphed versions of the skills you are interested in because the upgraded versions are where the money is at.

start by equipping a resurrection staff and then loading the templar healing skill line, in later dungeons the resurrection skill line doesnt keep up imo but does have some nice skills in there.

as far as healing goes, keep your magicka up via using the resurr staff heavy skill in betw using your healing spells, this will regen your majika. Stay out of aoe yourself, you have to move alot as a healer to avoid damage and to stay in the middle of your group so they can get heals. You will learn when to use light heals and when to pop the major ones. Its ok for their health bars to not be topped up as you regen your magicka via resurr staff. Rushed Ceremony morphed into Breath of Life is a great insta saver for keeping up to 3 people fast while you save the longer cast skills for bad times or while you use your staff to regen.

study the tool tips to pick and choose your skill line, dont worry, you can respec later (tho it will cost alot of gold0 but you get enough points to be generous with what spells you choose. pick those that sound good, try em out.

heres a nice guide to see what the morphs will look like:

going full on templar is so far proving to be the strongest healer in my exp, also everyone usually has their own heal spells via Fighter guild and or resurr staff. You will shine if you complement those skills with your own templar line

oh, and most importantly, get a thick skin as you can not heal thru stupid people who refuse to move out of AOE red circles to save their lives. You cant direct your heals either as most are ranged or auto heals anyone.. npc included. Start your dungeons early as that is the time to gain confidence in yourself, learn to manage your magicka, learn when to pop that ultimate, learn how to switch to dps to speed things up or if the group goes down you then can shine as a templar dps and save the day by dps down that last boss. spend some points into survivability, solo mode
as you dont group often as healer as you level up.

healing generates a ton of aggro so be ready to MOVE, run to the tank so they can save you

Keep in mind, players bear as much responsibility for limiting the decline of their health bar as you do in increasing it. There are things you simply won't be able to heal through, however, a good healer can have a huge impact on the success of a party.

Healing is definitely funky at first in ESO, there's no direct heals. At first it feels unwieldy and awkward, but once you get used to it, it's really nice. Rather than just staring at health bars the whole time playing whack-a-mole, you actually watch the battle the whole time.

HoTs are a huge part of healing, and the restostaff HoT is easily the best heal in the entire game. It's super cheap, heals for a ton, and lasts a long time. I keep that on everyone at all times.

Healing as a Templar, I currently have my entire action bar filled with healing spells, and my ultimate ability is the templar healing ultimate. I've been thinking about swapping out the ultimate for nova, but that ultimate heal can be a life saver in certain situations.

As far as groups go, every group I've been in, and I've been in quite a few, the people have been great. Simply outstanding. Not once has anyone ever complained about anything, much less the heals. So don't sweat it, people will be happy to have you along, and by and large people understand that they have more personal control over whether they live and die than the healer.

You can pretty much heal the 1st tier dungeons with Breath of Life alone. As a Healer I would strongly recommend having CC on your bar to save your live when a melee comes to kill you.

Also the healing morph of backlash is amazing. It procs 30% of damage a mob takes after 6 secs then heals the party.

The HOTs from the restro staff are VERY good at slowing peoples death down giving you more time to use Breath of Life to save them.

As stated by somebody else in this thread, its up to your group members to keep themselves alive just as much as you are to help keep them alive. CC is a HUGE deal in dungeons when dealing with trash mobs. Buffs and Selfheals will REALLY help when fighting bosses.....FYI some bosses are immune to CC but it never hurts to at least try.

In my opinion you need a couple of things
    1) The "default": This should be your go to heal that you pretty much spam during a fight. I use grand healing for this
    2) The "Oh crap" heal. This is what you spam when someone is I hit from death. I actually use steadfast ward which is a damage shield followed up with:
    3) The "Big heal". This is the heal you hit when there are several people down pretty far or one guy near death. I use Regeneration for this (morphed to do it's healing faster
    4) The "GTG pre-fight". this is what you cast before the tank pulls the big fight. I use both Steadfast ward and blessing of protection for this.

My final skill is something that uses the stamina pool and it depends on what class you took.
