[Question] Is it worth crafting the highest level items you can even though they use more material?

I have a bunch of flax. I feel like I get almost no xp whether I craft an item using 4 pieces or 10 pieces.

Over all, is it worth it to use more per craft?

the absolute best way to level enchanting, woodworking, clothing and blacksmithing is by deconstructing.

the xp you get from creating is nowhere near the xp you get from deconstructing.

also, as an FYI, when you get enchanting to 28 it will cost 272k whereas 29 will cost maybe 60k xp. i believe that this is because they didn't want people to power level it like the other professions.

Player crafted gear gives most inspiration when deconstructed. There's some sweet spots where you can maximize inspiration gain per material, but if you just to go after the item that uses the fewest materials and craft it's highest possible level, you cannot do much wrong. Might miss a few inspiration but save style stones that way.

Edit: from other players that is, so you'd have to find someone to trade items for deconstructing with. Ah, knots in me brains get tighter, might be better to catch some sleep.

Deconstructing drop items gives the best inspiration.. personally, I vendor almost nothing, but save all of my loot for deconstruction or research.

As others have stated, the best way to craft is by deconstruction.

Should you want to actually make something with the intent of trading deconstructions, there are efficiency spots which maximize the amount of IP gained per resource used. For cloth, that would be the highest level of rank 1 and 2 (14 and 24 respectively), the lowest level of each rank thereafter (3 through 9).

Also, the level of the item determines the amount of IP earned, not the actual item itself. As an example, a level 14 chest at 10 cloth will give the same IP as a level 14 belt at 4 cloth. Therefore you want to craft belts for any rank since they use the least amount of resources.

The reason to decon is the item breaks down into components that will likely sell for more than the 23-50 gold that the vendor offers. Either as material, or you might get an upgrade component from it, which will sell from 85gp up to around 1500gp.

I deconstruct everything or sell the item intact if it's from a set that has demand, like Warlock.

Nobody is actually answering the question :disappointed:

I'm talking about crafting one item that costs 4 wood. Crafting another item that costs 10 wood.

Just wondering if the XP difference is big enough. But I think enough of you are talking about just selling the materials that I'll go with that - it's not worth it for either of them.

    Thanks for the tips!

In fact, you have been already given an answer.

You should craft the highest level possible for the item that requires the least materials, wich happens to be the belt, to get the most inspiration profficiency.

But in the end, deconstructing your own items only gives you 1/7 of the inspiration a dropped item would.

So go out and farm some items in the areas where top level gear made of wichever ingot tier (14, 24..)

I used to deconstruct everything I found but I still got no xp from it. Time to just vendor everything i guess!

Just yesterday I was deconstructing level 14 bows with a guild mate. I was getting about 500 inspiration / deconstruction. What did I get for deconstructing one I made? About 80.

You gain 7x the inspiration from deconstructing an item made by another player, versus deconstructing an item made by yourself.

Well for most crafts deconstructing is the best way.

But for provisioning the only way to progress is to craft the highest level recipes you can. I have levelled up provisioning on two characters, up to the point your need to invest skill points, mainly because I had the recipes and the ingredients. Also both make food stuffs that boost health for 35 minutes, which is nice.

You were the first to actually answer the quesiton. Everyone else talked about deconstructing which isn't what i was asking about :no_mouth:

They were still helpful though but this is exactly what I was wanting to know. That's basically what I've been doing. Crafting the highest level belt I can or boots since both use 10 mats compared to 11 or 12 for others.

    Thanks
