Severe crafting Improvement bug with tempers/etc that can destroy your best gear

Severe issue with crafting improvement right now that just caused me to destroy an item I spent a full day farming for:

When you go to improve an item, at least with blacksmithing, and probably alll crafts, you can destroy the item when you use enough items to be at 100%:
-Click the button to max out the amount of tempers/whatever item.
-Wait a moment (I was chatting with friends so...)
-Click upgrade and confirm. Item destroyed.

I was like HOW? WHAT?

Investigated further - disabled all addons, restarted client:
--Click the button to max out the amount of tempers/whatever item.
-Waited a few moments. After a while the tempers reset to 1. So yea, thats very bad.

Please fix, and I really should be reimbursed my VR6 soulshine pauldrons that got destroyed by this bug. (tho highly doubt I will with how bad customer suuport has been lately for me)

This happened to me just last night, and it really made me mad to lose the materials to create the staff along with 5 green, 4 blue, and 7 purple; just to have it break on the purple.

Me wonders if there is a hard cap on RNG percentages?

    This is really, really lame.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel they lost a couple of their brain cells reading this?

    Rather rude.

If I was unclear on some point, specify and I can elaborate.

    Theres no cap.

What happens is the improvement item used resets to 1 randomly after a while, so as you click the button to confirm, it can reset on you, lowering your chance to succeed.

So you shouldn't of lost all 7 purple, just the 1.

Only workaround I found is just doing it extremely quickly after you max out the improvement item amount.

Have you reported this in /bug too? If not that's the best place to do it.

I have run into this a few times (never drastic but on green upgrades), it is best to wait a few moments or check that it still says 100% when you have clicked upgrade.

If it still says 100% it has never failed but I have seen it reset to 20% a few times. (On the odd occasion it was even successful so I was actually a happy bunny!)

This has been a known occurrence. Even been a thread on it. You have to verify its one hundred still when you push that confirm button, as it will reset on you if you don't watch it.

    No, and I never will.

Imo 100% internal, unviewable, undicsussable, unverifiable, unrespondable, unreliable ingame bug report tools are the absollutely worst idea in the history of mmos, and not worth using. I've proven this as a fact in previous ones I've played, as I contacted developers who were very keen on fixing a bug I reported, they searched there logs for my ingame report and could never find it.

If the devs really care about fixing bugs better and more accurately, they should open a dedicated bug report forum like every other serious mmo has, and hire someone purely to respond to it, and file the internal reports themselves. Its not my job and it's not a good idea for any player to do it that way.

no, not true, I am aware that it does reset at times, which I think is a bug all by itself, since it reset within a second.

I had improvement failed with solid 100% chance of success. If the game really doesn't mean 100%, they should just say 99%.

Ouch, I do admit I was sitting in the menu for several minutes but I did lose 7 ingredients. I will have to play fast hands from now on or find an addon to automate this for me.

This happened to me last night. I maxed to 100%, but when I pressed the button, it was reset to 10% for some inexplicable reason and destroyed my item.

If it can reset after a while, then I guess it can (rarely) reset between your hitting the button and that result hitting the server, or your hitting the button before the reset hits your screen. If it's always after X seconds then I guess the answer is to always change the selection away and back just before hitting Craft.

Definitely needs a fix though, why does it ever reset?

Okay, look out... weird conspiracy theory about to be put on the table.
I had this happen to me A LOT back in and just after early release. I could be upgrading to just green items, but the counter would reset to 1 within seconds of putting it at max and I would fail almost every time. After a while I started seeing it not happen, then suddenly it would start happening again.
*Here is where the conspiracy is coming in--hold on*
It was ONLY doing this while I was on Mumble (voip program). Not when I was talking, but when other people were talking. Since I've stopped using Mumble, or any voice program (TS3) outside of being required (guild stuff) I have yet to have this happen to me. On a side note, I was not maxing to 100% and then walking away for a while, it was taking mere milliseconds to go back to the minimum while someone was talking... even when my mouse was still hovering over the + sign.
Why is this a conspiracy, I have no idea. Why or how does this effect anything between the two different programs, no clue... just something I noticed happening at the same time.
Okay, crazy over... you can go about your day. BTW, smithing up tinfoil hats at Wayrest on request, just don't expect any to be above green quality.

    Yea maybe brotherbear..

I was on mumble too at the time..

Very weird for it to have any effect tho, I wasn't even running the overlay.

Pretty dumb after spending 200 million dollars on such an epic game they didn't bother to include built in voice chat, or any kind of decent social tools (aside from ok guilds).

When clicking the + icon, it should stop at max, not re-roll to 1 when initiated more than the maximum.

eg. clicked 5 times, but only takes 4 clicks to 100% so it then re-rolls to 20%, but due to lag, you never see it before you select the perform action key and assume you are at 100%.
