Maintenance.....

Leichhardt
Do you really have to do Maintenance more than once per week? If so... who are your server admins that cannot maintain their servers well enough to go more than a few days? Plan ahead... maintenance should be once PER MONTH. This is getting friggen annoying.

Not only that, but the message keeps getting vaguer and vaguer:

It used to be "Server are down for maintenance. They'll be back up around mid-day"

Then, "Servers are down for maintenance. They be back up in a couple of hours"

Now it's like, "Servers are down for maintenance."

They don't even bother putting in when they'll be back up.

So you think in this case maintenance means just reboot all the servers to clear caches and memory to give fresh start again?

In maintenance they put bug fixes etc on the server. Not everything is client side nowdays and servers only handle traffic.

For an hour or less... the server (farm), DB, and infrastructure are far more complex with a much larger player base.

Server maintenance wont fix the game... its the peeps behind the keyboards n monitors called Developers that will fix the game...eventually.

Frankly, I wish they'd suspend all subscriptions, take the game offline for however long it takes to put things right, do competent internal testing this time, run through beta again (and NOT listen to people claiming the game is ready for prime time, when clearly it is not), institute better bot account screening and in-game gold seller/buyer safeguards, hire sufficient CS and GM staff, then think about maybe putting the game live. In the long run it's better for ZoS to admit it screwed up by jumping the gun on launch, and set things right. Quite certain this would hack off droves of players, but would help restore confidence in the game in the long run. Just hate to see a game I want to love so much doing so miserably.
  • jayssenrwb17_ESO
If I could see improvement from patch to patch, from maintenance to maintenance, I'd think fair enough....but honestly...there is still lag, there is still phasing bugs, the Veteran dungeons constantly bug out....I ran two tonight....Wayrest Sewers wouldn't spawn the final bosses, and Darkshade, one boss couldn't be engaged.

Pulling the servers down twice a week for 3-4 hours at a time, and the game is still so bugged - its laughable really.

You only see the situation after the server downs, who knows how it would look like if the server never go down. You might crash even more often or lag or whatever issue´s you are having with the game.

I can only say that I see a progress in performance, especially after 1.3 where my FPS made a 50% jump. One crash since release and I really think the game is pretty ok. Yes we need a performance patch for pvp and that 64 bit client, just as well the multi core usage upped.

That said I have been in so many MMO releases by now, I don't freak out about minor bugs, its just how it is. The guys at ZO try really hard, but customers these days don't value this anymore.

Indeed. They've done a pretty good job at fixing a lot of things, reducing the number of gold spammers and bots. Things are happening, and if maintenance is required then so be it. My only gripe is that there's a sticky in the server status section, which says that every friday early morning there's a maintenance anyway. So why squeeze in another one on short notice the day before?

Because those of us on the other side of the world in oceanic were getting slammed with Friday night prime time maint. They moved it to Monday and Thursday. They said twice a week for now...will be prolly once a week in the future. Suck it up and dl more ***.

They had over a year of constant beta testers telling them stuff was broken and badly designed.

    It did not help.

    forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/75114/regular-maintenance-days-times#latest

NA maintenance is scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays, EU for Tuesdays and Fridays. This seems to be the schedule they are settling on.

And the issue isn't the server, its bug fixes to the OP. They are getting the serious ones out as quickly as they can.

I rather they take a whole week to fix every single bugs and issues with the game. This way it gives them more time to test out new features and fixes rather than rush out a patch and having something else broke in the process. I don't see anyone complaining about the free 5 days of gameplay.

It would take much longer than a week; bug fixes are tested before being put out. Each individual fix must be tested to make sure it works properly.

STOP CRYING, sheesh. Many mmo's have maint. daily. After some time, a year or two then it may go to once per week. But as new as this game is be glad it isn't every day or even three days a week.

And how many game systems did they have to change because people was complaining about no first person view or not hands or weapons seen in first person. Or what about the total revamp of crafting? How many other major changes was made because play testers said they didn't like how this or that worked?

How many issues could have been resolved if those doing the rework could have been doing bug fixes? People got exactly what they asked for and deal with it.
