Keyboard bug needs to be fixed asap

I get this bug where i cant key press anything and just have to stand there and die. It happens a couple times an hour and has cost me thousands in repairs. This bug alone is prevent me from even wanted to resubscribe, at this point i have no interest in playing a game that is so bugged and unfinished and will boycott the makers and associates for life. So far game get s 4 out of a 10. Fix this dumbstatic bug its so annoying!

I get around this when it happens by quickly pressing I twice (open and shut bag).

This bug needs to be fixed, should be a priority because it's a combat bug. Combat imo is very important in an MMO. This, and the delayed/unresponsive weapon switching bug needs to be put on top of the bugfixing list.

Not a good solution - this issue lasts only for 3-5 seconds, and I have it with the same frequency. If it get's you while low on health, You won't be able to type and reload in time

It seems to me, this may be connected with bash and interupting some charged attacks (yes I know, the ones that you should block not interrupt) - then, sometimes it bugs out. I'm not sure, but I never had it with 2h weapon, but have it often with 1h+s.

It only happens when in combat! To reload my UI would absolutely do nothing for the situation

This problem does need more attention. It has been an issue/bug since beta and it's gotten worse (especially last few patches). I'm guessing it's not a very easy fix for them though or it would have been done already. Who knows maybe it can't be fixed.

From my experience the work arounds don't always work and can vary in time. If your in combat your pretty much dead anyways unless a quick alt, l, ", happens to work.

Never said it was a good solution, but for now it's better than no solution.

I had the same problem as the OP and instead of just accepting my fate and die, the quick /reloadui has saved my butt a few times.

At no point did i ever advocate this as a good solution ...

Not exactly true, i can easily reproduce this outside of normal combat.

For example, for me, whenever i use my ranged opening spell with my Templar on any non hostile mob, like a dear for example, it bugs out and none of my attack keys work until i use /reloadui. I can reproduce this every single time with non hostile mobs.

With normal mobs, it's much more rare but follows the same pattern ...

PS: My other two main characters, a DK and a Sorc, both do *not* have this problem. only my Templar.

I have it on my DK, so if your Tempalr uses 1h+shield we could narrow it down to that weapon skill line, that would be the common denominator.

My sorc has it on staff, so it has nothing to do with shield line skills. Nightblade and Templar has it with dual wield.

Well, that's a good info on it's own, becasue now we can look for the reason outside of class/weapon combos.

Next thing would be trying to nottice, if that may be related to bash on certain mob attacks.

I found it sometimes happens when targeting a small mob, or accidentally hitting the rat behind it.

I get this on restoration staff and dual-wield, both very frequently.
Restoration staff it happens on heavy attacks and dual-wield it happens on flurry.
EDIT: It also happens very frequently on the werewolf 'pounce' ability and occasionally when transforming back to humanoid form.

Typing /reloadui, or opening an inventory screen clears most of them. It all appears to be bugs related to the animations of specific attacks locking.

Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented abilities on your skill bar from being used after attacking a critter.

I thought this bug was fixed until I played my Nightblade last night (it's a Dual Wield Nightblade). I was sorely mistaken. Still, the pseudo-fix I had when I had it surface it's ugly rear still works - pressing the escape key twice. That's valuable seconds out of combat that shouldn't be necessary and still might kill you, but give it a go next time it happens and see if it helps.

I haven't been able to reproduce this willingly, but my skillbar is as follows:
Teleport Strike (Ambush morph) - Flurry (Rapid Strikes morph) - Assassin's Blade (Killer Blade morph) - Veiled Strike (Surprise Attack morph) - Shadow Cloak (Shadowy Disguise morph) - Death Stroke (Soul Harvest morph). This bug generally occurs when using Flurry (at least for me) from what I have seen.

About the reloadui.... I don't recall ever having to do that in any other MMO. What an odd thing in TESO.

I think there are 2 bugs people are getting confused. 1 is where you can no longer use your action bar abilities and /reloadui works. 2 is where some keyboard/mouse inputs no longer function in game and /reloadui (at least for me) does not work. For the second, my mouse weapon swap (button 5) stops working, shift to sprint doesnt work, wasde all DO work, 1-5 do not work, left click doesn't work and alt stops working. There may be more non-functioning keys that I just haven't tried. 2 had happened to me 3-4 times now and 1 has happened 5-6 times on my NB.

A GM told me it was a Phasing bug in a ticket reply.
And yes, this bug should be #1 priority for all of ZOS but as of today I have seen no official forum or patch notes even signifying this bug exists.

I have a Templar,and now that i have switched from win 7 to 8 (i don't know if this changed something or matters)and switched from duel wielding/bow to only on both weapon slots using staff. my keyboard locks on me permanently, and i have to quit out of the game.having a G19s with the spare keys on the left side i have set the ESC key to one of the extra keys but even after the game is shut down windows no longer recognizes my keyboard !! so is this really the game for me? or is this a bigger problem? and funny story some of the times this has happened my keyboard drivers haven't been installed. this needs looked in to. and yea the G keys on this keyboard the extra gaming keys will and do still work after the freeze.even if the drivers are not installed but the only thing the keys will open without presets is the F1 key. can't log out from there

ok so my sorcerer is locking up too so idk maybe it's me, because i changed OSes....sorcerer is 2H/swordNshield so i doubt it's cause of wep skill ,im at a loss i guess its my system.

Not sure what area you are in but I reported this bug yesterday in game. If I go into Glenumbra near the north west part of the map my keyboard locks. Doesn't happen anywhere else. I have a G510 using Logitech drivers and running the stock game keybinds and no addons. I can turn circles and switch weapons using my mouse but I cannot move at all or do any other key stroke movements or skill uses with my keyboard. I have to end the process to get out of the game.

I have the Logitech G-15 keyboard ( yes almost as old as me ) and the keys on the left are Macro keys and I have mine set for using QuickSlot items. You can create macros that will do several things in a row, if you wish.

You paid for those keys --- use 'em

Im in Grahtwood just NorthWest of Elden Root running around the pond/lake. my keyboard is freezing every 1-3 min. once it froze 10 sec after logging back in. it's happened at least 5 times now between Two different days on my sorcerer. may be its the Loc like Seravi suggests

I don't know if this is the same bug that OP is talking about, but I used to have the famous 5-second lag freeze that happened randomly. Sometimes several times an hour. Sometimes once an hour.

But the way I solved that was to minimize the game (windows key) and close the launcher.

Never had the freeze since. Hope this helps!

When it happens to me it seems like a targeting issue.

Have the mob tab targeted is not enough -- you have to get them into the middle of your screen. If they get outside the magic box you cant see then abilities wont fire because they dont think you have anything targeted.

At least it seems like that to me. Getting critters aligned back to the middle of my screen seems to fix it.

I would like to see tab targeting actually work sometime.

If you are too lazy to face your enemies, do you really think you deserve to beat them?
Combat is more action oriented in this game than in many other MMOs. I like that, and I do not want lazy targeting.

That bug used to happen to me all the time, Idk what changed but one day it just stopped happening.
In fact it was a big part in why I quit for a month.

I have found solution to this problem!

Flip your keyboard upside down, remove old battery. Insert brand new 2 or 3 WHTAH make it 4x AAA. And buy hello kitty cuddly toy. Get mad and rip the head of it, because my workaround won't work. And you feel sad and cancel your subscribe, make it active, and cancel it again, make it active, cancel it again.

I feel you, but calm down a bit and have fun SO WHAT it lags sometimes, give it and get over it, HAVE FUN!
