Vampires (until very recently) got a skill line with some moves that were very powerful in PvP (to the point that they were nerfed by ZOS)

As a Vampire (or werewolf) you can turn someone else into one once a week, so there's not exactly a huge overflow of them, as the quest to become one shows up around level 40.
"We were undone because of you. Every day, every day, in the dark, in the dawn, forever, r-r-rip, r-r-rip, r-r-rub, r-r-rub, right in our faces, because of you."

Powers aside, what with vampires being the popular thing these days in general, it shouldn't be any surprise that people want to be them in game.

There's a looooooot of vampires my friend. :) On paper you would be right. In practice, they have been increasing at an exponential rate that rivals the infection rate of the bubonic plague.

There was an exploit that allowed people to get the Vampire ultimate down to free and also allowed it to stack on itself.

This Ultimate does a high amount of damage and also heals the caster.

Since it was stacking, there was no AoE limit.

Combined, this allowed exploiters to walk into zergs of 30 people without dying and repeatedly cast their free ultimate.

ZOS fixed the exploit and now the exploiters are upset that they can no longer exploit.

Playing by the same rules as everyone else is hard apparently.

Exactly, I'll admit the great gnashing of fangs by the vamptards over these rather minor nerfs and an exploit fix are amusing but in the grand scheme of things I doubt that this alone will change the vampire FOTM status.

Now onto more important questions, like which blood tastes better Nord or Breton ? and if ZOS implements player housing will Vampires get the option to add coffins to their pads?

    This.

Stop calling this a nerf. The abilities were being exploited in ways the developers clearly never intended.

If you go back and look at pre-launch polls most show 15%-20% people wanting to be WW or Vamp. Does everyone think that is still accurate? or has it gone up dramatically due to OP of vamp in PvP?

You must play PvP a lot, or be Lvl 40+. I just hit level 30, and do solely PvE, and I don't believe I've ever seen a vampire. I still see quite a few players, so it could just be that their skill line is more popular among those who play in the areas you do.

Sorry, wrong on both counts. :)

I just see a ton of vampires running around populated areas like cities. They're easy to miss if you're zoomed out or not paying attention (easy to miss faces in general that way). Next time you're in a crowd, look around. Take note of how many Marilyn Manson lookalikes with red eyes you see.

Or you can just read the forum and pay attention to guild chat in large guilds. Being a vampire or werewolf is practically a necessity in a lot of peoples' minds right now.

Sorry, but vampirism skill line itself wasn't the issue, it was ult reduction within specific classes that caused this issue, and it looks like that will never be fixed. Bat swarm will just be replaced by another ultimate.

While I am a vampire and I agree with the changes, this is wrong. Fixing the stacking of one AoE skill over and over on itself is "fixing an exploit". Adjusting the ultimate cost of Bats would be "fixing an exploit". Giving all vampires a blanket lower bonus to reduced resource costs at higher vampire stages is a nerf. The change to mist form speed was also a nerf. Maybe needed, but in no way is it not a "nerf".

In game I have seen exactly one vampire try to defend his stance against the nerf. Everyone else acknowledges that it was very much needed. All of the drama on the forums is just that; forum drama.

You can get the quest at any level.

There are vampires as low as level 10 .... kiting is a wonderful thing.

There are also a massive amount of vamps in the game.

Not a huge overflow .... funniest thing i've read in days, thanks for that.

Keep LOLing all you want...I am not seeing them often. Thats why I am not all that concerned about them. I see maybe one a day. LOLs won't convince me that it's a problem.

That way you get to see them all in one place.

    I'm on Daggerfall EU.

Vamps seem to be quite popular in PvP.

No idea how many run around the PvE areas, I don't pay much attention to other people there but I know there are a hell of a lot in Cyrodiil.

It's either a lot of Vampires or a hell of a lot of people are in need of a tan .... and sleep.

Pale skin and red eyes aren't a good look.

Don't worry. After this incredible class nerf, the vast amount of people will cure their Vampirism. It'll be exciting to see where the nerf hammer goes next.

To something else that wasn't broken in the first place probably, while ignoring the origins of the actual problems, and ignoring broken passives, quests, etc. along the way. ;)

I actually became a vampire just yesterday. Don't forget that there are some of us who just like vampires. I played as a vampire in Skyrim as soon as I could. Vampires are my thing. No change in abilities is going to change that ;)
