NPC Allies Do Nothing (Possible Spoilers)

Jenuma
Jenuma
Throughout the game you do several quests in which an NPC will assist you. Usually they're functional but almost every time they help you with a boss fight, about a quarter to halfway through the battle they sheathe their weapon and just stand there like idiots.

I have several characters in the Dominion and I can reproduce this virtually every time you fight Norian; about halfway through the battle, Ayrenn just puts her weapon up and stands there watching you die. Most recently it happened in the battle with Estre, in which Urcelmo, Raz, and the healer all quit at the same time. Needless to say the enemy NPCs rarely attack them after they quit. They're obviously there to ease the pressure of the bigger fights so it's frustrating to see them just stop like that.

Yes. They have never worked properly in any fight, on any faction. I can say this as I'm now VR9 and never seen them work properly. They either do nothing from the get go or stop working the moment or soon after you engage in a fight.

The reason this isn't such a major issue is because they are never needed to kill the bosses, just helpful. In veteran content it can get real tricky, but still doable.

With the exception of that one harvester boss in the 2nd dominion zone. Just couldn't do it, had to just move on as no one else was there trying it.

AI: Artificial Idiot - working as intended. :p
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

I have never ever seen one of my NPC allies fight. They simply follow me and stand still when i get into combat.
The only allies that actually did something were the Companions during the main quest line. They should've given every NPC that kind of AI.
    Currently playing:
    Swims-In-Sap - CP200+ - Argonian Templar

I like my healing like i like my characters: generic

    This. Is SO annoying.
I despise any quest which grants forces a npc ally to accompany me.
And I don't get why it doesn't work - the sorcerer's summons are not the most clever npcs either but at least those do fight for me. More or less.

Btw, the main quest companions have the same issues; sometimes they fight, sometimes they don't at all, sometimes they stop mid-combat. Totally unpredictable and unreliable.
I play all 3 factions simultaneously (more or less on the same level) and therefore do all the main/fighter/mage quests 3 times.
Every time with different experience regarding allies behavior. A unpredictable nightmare.

They might just stand there half of the time, but this has never prevented me from completing the quests.. so therefore its not high on Zeni's "to fix" list, methinks.

I had Ayrenn stare at me while a ghost repeatedly kicked my rear. VR stuff is definitely way too hard at points when NPCs decide to stop helping. :(

This will get fixed, in time. It shouldn't be at the top of their fix list tho cause you can still progress thru the game without the NPC's aiding you.

I wish that's what they did. It's actually worse than that. If you CC a mob, they run over and break it and then they put their weapons away and stand there like idiots.

The only substitute for victory is overkill.

They stop fighting when they lose their health points. Heal them and they should start fighting again.
Been there, got the Molag Bal polymorph.

I honestly never had this problem... only once in the main quest when you have all the super crew with you when you're going to crush mogal's balls... I noticed that Cadwell took a beating and never recovered - the rest tho, all fine and dandy helping out and doing their stuff..

So true, but most of the times this is enough for me. The mob is busy hitting the unkillable NPC, while I can stand on the side and pick them off one by one. Either pulling them to me as a DK, or using ranged attacks.

On that fight, I half expected them to raise little boards with a score on after the fight, just like the judges at figure skating do :)
The statement "if you put enough monkeys behind enough typewriters... sooner or later one will produce the works of Shakespeare" has sadly been proven utterly wrong by the internet...

I just want them gone if Zen refuses to make them work. I'd rather go about soloing the content then get 1 idiot around with me who does nothing in a group of 2 mobs. (Except Abner Tharn, he's dreamy @.@)

Ahem. Yes people have complained about this.

I should clarify. They AI helps you on the first mob you fight or the first wave of something, then ... nothing. Now they follow you around (I run around alot on my NB and I get a little train of AIs).

Please please fix this or remove them all together.

That makes sense, and I understand that it should be like that, but I wish they would kneel down or something like the followers in Skyrim do instead of just stand there.
