[URGENT] BUG IN THE MAIN QUEST - CAN'T CONTINUE WITH IT!

There is a bug regarding the quest "Message Across Tamriel", when it marks you to "talk to Vanus Galerion in your capital city". It seems that for some reason, Wayrest is my capital city since Vanus is standing there with the quest marker over him, but I can't talk to him.

This bug only affects a few people since others were able to finish it (in fact, they had to find Vanus in Daggerfall). Idk why in my quest he is in Wayrest and why I can't talk to him, but this is a gamebreaking bug since I got to VR1 and can't continue leveling up in PvE (I can't go to other factions if I can't complete the main quest). I can't even abandon it and restart it since it's the main quest. Searching the forums a bit I noticed that this bug is going on SINCE 3 WEEKS AGO!! Really? 3 weeks ago? How long does it take to ZoS to fix a SEV1 (gamebreaking) bug OF THE MAIN STORYLINE.

Please, I want some official answers about this, it's just unacceptable.

I have the same issue. I'm Aldmeri so for me he appears in Elden Root. He's just standing there, can't interact with him. This is the worst bug I've encountered so far to be honest as it effects the main quest.

Please stop using capslock on topics' title or/and on keywords within post. That won't improve your credibility. Moreover, please send a bug report in-game, because it's the only way to get your issue resolved, especially yours that is well known.

This one has been broken since forever. It's due to get fixed in a patch at some stage, according to the known issues log.

Well guess what. patch day came and it's still not f'n fixed. This is ridiculous. Why in Oblivion can't you cancel main quests? That would probably fix it for some. But the issue is. I got it way before I was suppose to get it while traveling to Evermore. I hadn't even saved the king yet, and when I did. He didn't give me a quest afterwards. Now I am stuck with Message Across Tamriel in my journal. It still won't work and I can't get to Coldharbor!

I'm sure all of us experiencing this issue have already sent in-game bug reports about it. At this point complaining on the forum is a last resort for players that have been blocked from finishing the damn game. With the amount of downtime this game has you'd think they'd have fixed such a huge problem by now.

As someone already told you, I sent more that one ticket ingame, and it was worthless. Then I waited patiently to the patch, almost sure that it was going to get fixed but oh surprice, it was not. You may not agree, but I think ZOS lack of commitment with such an important matter is far more important than me using capslock in the title...

BTW, TO EVERYONE THAT HAS THIS ISSUE:

I was told that chaging the language to German makes it possible to talk to Vanus (you can go back to english after you talk to him). I'm not sure if it works, I'm updating the client right now (5gig update)...

This is so bizarre that I can't resist trying it.

Edit: Shockingly, this didn't fix the quest : )

I'm having the same issue right now. I even got 2 quest markers pointing to him.
Anyone know where in Daggerfall he is supposed to be? There was a bug in some group dungeon where an NPC was in 2 places at the same time.
Maybe it's similar?

I had the same, 2 quest markers couldnt talk to him. I guess you got the quest while you were zone into a city or something similar. When you receive the quest you need to talk to direct to Vanus, else the quest will bug out.

This being said, make a ticket and say you did everything, /camp /reloadui and change the language and ask the CS to reset the quest or abandon it. CS did it for me after a few tickets and I could retake the quest and progress mycharacter.

I sent in ticket an hour ago about this and i got help almost right away. He updated quest for me so now i can move on with it

Sorry that you have problem with this Quest, but we cant help you, you have to wait til we have repaired all the quests.
....bummer....

The german support is really really bad with "helping".... they refuse to do anything, wile in english it seems any Player got help just fine....

I was contacted by a person called Luis from tech support. They told me to stand next to Galerion, completly log out and tell them about it. They reset this quest. After I received confirmation, I logged back in and the quest was fine. There were 2 Galerions but I could speak normally to one of them which made my quest progress.
