Transmogification and Barber Shop

socomhdsb16_ESO
I hope these two things will be added into the game soon and hopefully they are of in game gold payment instead of real life money but at the way things are with the imperial edition and so on, it wouldn't surprised me if it cost me $10.

I'm dying to change my character's hair style for a long time now because of this new set of armor I just got, I think would look great with this hair. Also being able to change not just the hair, but also the tattoos and so on.

Transmogrification is a must, there are plenty of armor that are great looking but suffer the stats.

Transmogrification of gear is kind of pointless with the capability of crafting all the various racial styles.

A barber shop type thing would be cool though as long as it's limited to changing just your hairstyle and facial hair, hair color and accessories.

I'd prefer full on facial re-sculpting Skryim style.

And it would not bother me if this cost me $5 real money.

I agree with the barbershop idea, although if the game remains sub-based it should be gold, not additional RL money. As for the barbershop itself, I have no strong opinions as to hair/accessories only or full facial reconstruction. Either/or would be fine.

It's not pointless: I remember quite specifically on my VR2 Nightblade that I preferred the Level 50 coloring far more than the VR1 coloring. Same stats, different colors and I preferred the Level 50 more. Unfortunately such does not scale and so at VR2 we had to go up and now it's ugly.

You can do different racial styles but the color of the gear is based on the materials and some materials have nicer looks than others.

@Ravinsild That's a situation where I think armor dyes would be a better fit than transmogrification.

Which allows you to get a rough estimate as to the level and quality of someone else's gear? I mean... since there's no inspect/examine function.

What difference does it make? We can use costumes over our gear anyway. If you want to know what someone else is wearing, ask them. No need for this kind of limitation.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

i agree, some of the earlier styles in lower levels i liked more, like the khajitti style staves that had one or two moons tied to a stick. or the bosmer shoulderpads that appeared to have antlers strapped to them

It is not pointless, if I like this armor but its a low level armor. I have to wear it just to look good even though it suffers the stats of higher level armor?

I would also like transmog. I have a level 3 chest medium armor that I love and have never found a higher level equivalent. I've hung onto it just for look. It's called Er-Jaseen's Worn Jack.

I'd like to see some kind of barber shop or a wardrobe option sone time down the road but certainly not a priority for me. I mentioned it in a previous thread but I think one of the better ways to do the transmorg option would be through crafting. Have something along the lines of 'Reconstruct Style' or similar, this would require both the knowledge of the motifs books and the style item (bone/nickel etc). Or just make use of the disguise slot already in the inventory panel.

As far as facial reconstruction, i think changing adornments, hair, accessories/warpaint would be plenty.

A little known fact in Tamriel is that all warpaint is made with daedric dyes (that cannot be used on clothing or armor, ever), and once on the skin they can NEVER come off!

Also, all cosmetic jewelry is cursed and cannot be removed once worn, and cause 800 damage to the character if they try to add any additional forms of cosmetic jewelry.

    There, now you know. :)

Oh, and hair cannot be cut and never grows either. Blame the Tribunal gods

Well, you can't wear costumes in PvP, though. And that can kind of affect your decision making when targeting someone in a group or even coming up on a 1v1.

On topic, though. I have mixed feelings about it. I got my first character up to level 23, then started over completely and remade the same exact character just because I was becoming unhappy with his look. Get to about level 23 again and find that, while I'm much happier with his look, I still want to change some small features. I absolutely do not want to start over again, though. My goal in the game is to play one character, no more. So it would be really nice to have an option to redo faces.

On the other hand, I highly doubt Zenimax will add this. They seem to be very focused on making people commit to choices. Just look at how expensive it is to redo your skill points. And I actually thing this is a good thing. It makes your character feel more like a persistent entity when they can't be drastically changed every other day. It's easier to become attached (and to learn your role well in the case of skill points). In that sense, I actually don't want the ability to change my look.

I knew it! Vivec won't let anyone look more fabulous than him.

MAYBE if Vivec stopped hindering our fabulousness, he wouldn't stand out so much and we wouldn't have to deal with Molag Bal's cries for attention and displays of affection towards him.

    Wow. First world problems...

It's not enough that you kick more ass but you have to look good while you're doing it.

You getting this Zenimax? Some players want to play Sims 3 Fashion Show!

Or maybe we just want to change how our character looks like without having to reroll? I think this is a perfectly reasonable request.

And being able to use every available skin in the game adds variety to the end game. You know, it makes it harder to find people that look exactly like you. Wanting to look unique in a MMO is absolutely reasonable, too.

And, please. Any "problem" in a video game is a "first world problem". Keep that in mind before ridiculing someone else's opinion.

    Straw man, much?

You see, nobody is asking for them to stop everything and add a barber. NOBODY. Like, not a single person in the whole thread.

Something being broken doesn't mean people can't ask for things to be added. You see, different people find different stuff important. For example, I am a role player, so character customization is sitting comfortably at the top of my list of "important things in a MMO". Some other people, like you, think that fixing the quests is more important. Many more think that the problem with the bots and gold sellers should be fixed even before the quests are.

MMO gamers are "never happy" because they are not just one kind of person. Not every MMO player wants the same stuff. If you don't want more character customization, that's fine, but you don't have to attack other people like this.

Just because our priorities are different it doesn't mean someone's idea is stupid, mind you.
