Lag in combat today
I would search to see if anyone else is having this problem, but it seems impossible to search for the term "lag" on the forums (it always returns 0 results, even though a lot of posts mention lag). Anyway, today I am experiencing very strange lag in combat. Game runs fine all other times, and my FPS are actually fine, even in combat, but there is button lag, like I will press a hotkey or even just mouse click to attack and there is lag in between that and the attack actually happening. Has been really annoying and was not happening before. This happening to other people? Is ZOS aware of it? Any idea how to fix it?

Today? I experience it EVERY DAY since early access. And no, its not enough just to lag, sometimes I can also :
- Freeze, world becomes static, then crash
- In battle, the mob can hit me but I cant cast spells to it nor hit it, then die
- Load screen of death mostly in cyro and sometimes pve
And dont worry, at this point we can assume they know about lag, but doesnt have any clue how to address it nor estimates/plans on when its gonna be worked on. After all, you cant give your customers estimates on something you dont actually know how to solve in the 1st place1 -
InvictoNZ✭✭✭In beta I had zero lag in PVE, of any type. I had normal latency lag in PVP, playing from New Zealand.
Since early access, I have had key press lag. I'm not sure what changed from Beta to Live, maybe the server was moved. Maybe the Beta client used the firewall correctly. (I have no listing in my firewall for ESO, at all. I can see Oblivion and Skyrim entries, but no ESO.)

Jasli✭✭✭I had a terrible time as well. Noticed it the other night but today was awful. 2-3 second freezes. I ended up leaving as it was not playable.0 -
Aenima_pt✭✭✭It happened to me for the 1st time in PVE massive lag, for like 10 minutes, then it got good. This like 5 hours ago, just now it got even worst and even got kicked out of the server 2 times.

Yes i had some bad lag issues today, was abnormal for me to get lag. I was running around, but noone else was moving, and the "E" button was unresponsive.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭I have not experienced lag, but my I get where I can no longer attack or swap weapons. Walk very slow when this occurs. It usually last at least 20 seconds. My computer responds otherwise and I can to an interrupt that sends out a light attack. If I am using biting jabs at this time the javelin remains in my hands. Unfortunately, I have perished in combat a few times due to this. I have also seen on my sorc that the wrong attack seems to go out. I have surmised there is a lag and I am seeing the last attack. Unfortunately, the lag is long enough that it throws things off. I think both of these are related since they started at the same time. Either they made some change during one of the maintenance patches very recently that has a negative, unintended affect or the extremely large number of bots on the server is having a huge affect on the game. I have seen it posted somewhere that the game performance is being affected by the bots activity.0 -
traigusb14_ESO2✭✭✭✭✭had a bad hour or 2 just before the server went down. maybe 5 secs from keypress to action. Usually I have zero problems.0 -
I have had it since day one. I go to hit "Q" button to heal and it doesn't happen till I die thus wasting a heal potion or two. I am getting lag from almost anything I try to do with keyboard or mouse. Tried 2 different keyboards and mice and same thing.0

Yes was about to reset my router till I asked on zone if anyone else was lagged.
According to zone chat on US server many were hit by this lag. Was for hours until the server was taken down. Going through doors, opening banks, interacting with NPC's and combat were all affected.
Had me worried that Zeni is targeted by a DDOS attack... as sometimes problems are caused by such methods. Whatever hope they can sort it quickly

Bolo_Bob✭✭✭yesterday was the worst general lag ive had so far, as far as i remember anyway.
but also i went to do the vampire questline the other day, didnt lag at all before entering the instance mini dungeon. after i entered there i couldnt tell where the enemies really were the whole time.
i was doing the kiting on a lvl 11, maybe we shouldnt be able to complete at that lvl but i eventually did get it even with the insane lag.
anyway point of my story there isnt about vamp's or how hard it was.
my story there is about how just by going into a quest instance which it forces us to go into solo turns out to be a lag fest when in the normal zone with players everywhere had zero to almost no lag at all.
also to add, after i completed that quest instance i left that mini quest dungeon and was back to zero lag or nearly zero lag as per usual.
im not complaining, it just seems backwards in my opinion.0 -

Branbran✭✭This has been occurring for a while now. I am actually surprised not more people are complaining about the general slow response time of combat. I just figured perhaps some class builds are just not as affected by it.
Or was the lag last night particularly bad? I know really bad lag spikes usually happen in the evening at some point but it usually doesn't last the entire night.Winter-Time

The scary part is, this issue surfaced after that patch a while back. Things got noticeably worse.
Since then it has been a turn-off playing this game. Because timing key blocks and interrupts are now impossible. And many deaths have become lag related.
Without precision, or a smooth reliable server, combat isn't possible.
Reminds me of World of Tanks, when it was at it's worst.
2-3 second lag, miss that shot = dead.0 -
I just wanted to add that I am on the North American megaserver, and since Saturday May 3 at about 11pm EST I've been having lag that has made combat impossible. Mob warps, unresponsive abilities, etc.
I have verified this is not related to my own network.
It has never happened to me before, and I've played since launch, so it seems to be server-related and is a recent event that caused it.0
