C.O.D. bug (and guild stores cost)

I can only assume this to be a bug.

-- When i send one item, the cost of C.O.D. is 10% of the value plus 10g.
-- When i send two items, the cost of C.O.D. is 20% of the value plus 10g.
And so on... shouldnt it be 10%, of the total? Why is it adding up?

--1 item that costs 1000g should have a cost of 10% = 100g
-- 2 items that cost 1000g each (2000g total), should have a cost of 10% = 200g. In reality, the COD cost is 20% = 400g.
And it goes up to ridiculous amount.

The solution atm is send 1 item per mail. But...

PS: also... guild stores will never work properly while the cost to sell an item is 25% of its value. Its just ridiculous. 15% is acceptable. I understand the need to implement gold sinks, but 25% only makes it so people turn into zone chats, to sell items.

Not sure if you saw the 1.1 patch notes. Although they are tentative, one of the things they are changing is the cost of placing listings in the guild store. This cost is supposedly being reduced. As for the COD - I just don't. I meet with people. *Otherwise I feel like I'm paying Uncle Vinny and his mafia a huge fee. The COD costs are legal robbery...*

The way I see it, given the limited amount of things to spend money on in the first place, after a few months there will be so much money in the game that a high COD or listing fee will be like so whatever anyways.

Money drops in the game like water. If you pick up all the wood, cloth and ore you see, you can refine it and just vendor it for 400 a stack.

Once you run out of inventory upgrades to buy, what is there really to buy? I suppose you could buy crafting materials, but eventually there will be so many of them in game that nobody will care.

Things seem to be hard to get today because the game has only been live for a month, but the game really seems to be sort of easy mode when it comes to collecting money.

I just checked it and your values do not add up. As of Version 1.0.5 the price to send a Value 21 Mace and Value 16 Pants with 0 C.O.D. price or not C.O.D. at all is 13 Gold - 10 plus 10% of each item value (rounded down).
Trying to send the same item with 1 Gold C.O.D. costs 10 Gold (but the price is only updating to that if you leave the C.O.D. Textbox).
At C.O.D. set to 10 this costs 12 Gold
At C.O.D. set to 100 this costs 30 Gold.
At 1000 COD it costs 210 Gold.
So C.O.D. costs seems to be 10+C.O.D. value/5, with the Item value based cost being ingored.
Since you save on the 10 base cost sending multiple items are always cheaper.

That is NOT the point of the post. Those values were examples.

The problem isnt with sending ONE item per mail. Thats fine... 10% cost, is acceptable. The bug is when you try to send more than one item per mail.

    Try this:
#1-- put one item (any item, even with value zero) in a mail. Select C.O.D. and ask 1000g for price. You will see the cost of sending it is 110g (which is 10% of the asked price, plus 10g for the mail).

#2 -- now put six item (same kind, doesnt matter) in the mail. Select C.O.D. and ask for 1000g for price. The cost is 610g (which is 60% of the asked price, plus 10g for the mail).

See the problem now? The price of C.O.D. scales with the price AND with how many items you have in the mail, up to a wooping 60% of the value.

EDIT: if you want to send 6 items, with a cost of 1000g each... your C.O.D. will cost you 3610g. If you send 6 mails, with 1 item per, the cost will be 660g. So no, sending multiple items is not the cheapest way.

Not going to dive into the math debate. All i know is that i sent 3 items, 2 warlock set pieces and a blue staff, for sale price of 800 gold and the CoD fee hit me for 250 gold. I won't CoD again.

I made another check with more items. Apparently the COD fee is:
10 (for the mail) + COD Price/10 times the number of Items. The price might only update if you leave the COD Textbox (not on removing /adding items to the list).
I tested those value with low value items (the mace and trousers from above, potion stacks of Value 3/potion and a single pork soup). There might be a "item value" aspect, but if so it is lower then the effect Item value has on the non-cod mail cost.

It could be a bug or intentional (depending on if they want us to send multiple e-mails or rather one big one).
It depends on wich approach is costlier for the servers.
It should also be noted that Mail Attachment retrieval right now is "all or nothing". So single sending does has advantages for the target and might get COD mails cleaned up faster.

10+800/10*3 or 10+240. Sounds like my formula works and there is really no relation to the item value.

It is customary to add the COD fee to the selling price as usually the recipient pays the Transportation fee (if he lacked the time or a character for the meet in the starting city).

Lol "my formula"... you make it seem hard. Its 10% of the total value, per item sent (which is, imo, wrong. Should not be "per item").

Also... some people already do the right thing and share the COD fee.

EDIT: i posted here and reported this bug already... still no answer.

Experienced this also.. COD should be a flat percentage (just like taxes)...

The number of items sent should be irrelevant.

    Fixed :D

    Patch 1.0.7.
    Inventory & Bank
    Guild Store
Reduced the cost of listing an item in a guild store.
Reduced the amount of gold taxed on the sale of an item in a guild store.

    Mail
Significantly reduced the cost of sending C.O.D. mail.
Fixed an issue where the postage fee percentage for C.O.D. mail was not working as intended.
Fixed an issue where you were still being charged a postage fee for C.O.D. mail even if the recipient name was invalid.

It's an improvement, but I really think postage fees should be refunded if the recipient leaves the mail to expire.

Saw a nasty little scam in chat yesterday. Someone claimed to be quitting the game and offered to give their gold away if people would CoD them worthless items for several thousand gold. Of course, they're just going to ignore the mails and the senders will be paying the fee for nothing.

Agreed. This is why I don't COD anything over 1000K in case the buyer defaults.
