And I am 90% loving this game & 10% rage... and in the absence of a general chat forum I'm going to talk about it here briefly...
Since this forum is by it's nature a little biased to the negative let's start with the pluses...
I'm an MMO virgin, my experience limited to a very brief dalliance with EQ in it's early days and an enforced arena mode in ME3 needed to complete the solo game. On the other hand I have been an RPG player for years and a TES fanatic since Daggerfall... just so you know where I am coming at this from...
I only bothered with this because someone lobbed me a beta key for the penultimate beta, I just tried because I am a TES fan but expected to hate it from the start.
30 hours of play later and I had a level 9 in each area, was loving the PvE and ready to try more.
After the last beat I tried Cyrodil and was hooked.
All the things that made me hate PvP weren't here... PvP was voluntary, no kill camping, no vets hunting newbies for fun unless the newbies went into the danger zone.
PvE felt very like TES, not quite the freedom to roam and simple 'exist' in the game as an offline version but I knew coming in that it was not realistic to do that.
I enjoy the quests and the story, I enjoy the informal groups that come together for bosses and dungeons and dolmens and even miss them a bit in the solo quests... or just the way someone will wade it and pull your six out of the fire when you've got in too deep with a mob.
Equally love Cyrodil... I am dreadful at it, I get killed so often it's funny but I'm getting better and starting to notch up a few kills for my alliance.
I enjoy seeing a second zone in the vet content although I found the jump in difficulty traumatic at the start it's growing on me and forcing me to use different tactics to beat stuff.
I haven't been impacted by the cheating since I really only play with my wife so we haven't seen any economy problems and do our own crafting. I've nearly done the 10,000 node trophy but my armour is about 40% golden and counting.
The 10% rage hits when lag kicks in and I'm dying for no reason, occasionally it hits when I've burnt time on a quest and the darned thing fails along the way. But even then retrying and reading here has got me through must of the partial bugs - and one of the things you learn playing a Bethesda game is that bugs are going to happen out of the gate.
I need to get out and do the social aspects more, find a couple of decent guilds, join some groups for dungeons etc and will do more of that in time.
Overall I think this has been a positive 4 weeks of play for me (and my wife). I think ZOS have some issues to iron out both technical and CS wise but they have made steps already.
I hope they continue to fix the things that are broken and I think we'll have a bit of a gem.
