Cannot defeat final boss (SOLVED - Use Strife to Win)

I'm a nightblade focused on archery. As a few others have posted, I cannot defeat Molag Bal. I've seen videos of people doing it. I've heard strategies. It doesn't work. Blocking doesn't help. Running doesn't help. The little blue orbs that are only supposed to do 'minimal' damage completely destroy my health. Did I stack health attributes? No. I focus on stealth and hitting unfortunate souls in the back with arrows. I have 12 Magicka, 8 Health and 28 Stamina (I'm 49).

Should I have to change the way I've played the game up until now to beat this guy? Hell no. I cannot get to the next phase where he spawns Titans, because honestly my health just drops. I'm sick of repairing because my armor is made of paper, yet costs more than a farmer makes in a week month eighteen years to fix.

So, what the hell? I can't outrun him because of these little blue orbs of death, and even if I did he just jumps on me like I'm carrying an iPad down a dark alley in downtown Los Angeles. Yes, I know to dodge it. But then he's right up on me ready to run train. For other people that are squishy like me, I'm interested in two things: How did you defeat this guy, and who's your therapist if you didn't?

EDIT: Because people are still giving advice on this topic and probably aren't reading my later posts, this problem is solved. Once I grabbed a self-heal ability, the fight became quite simple.

The very first Siphoning skill will overheal you, I know its a bit stupid but thats how you beat it.

Maybe go get that last level, and try if 9 health is enough to survive one orb? lol

I beat Molag Bal at lv 48, on the second attempt, and I didn't read up or anything. I'm a vampire nightblade, with most of my points in magicka. Despite the vampire drain, I generally feel very squishy, and I can't even use the drain in the boss fight. All that being said, whenever I hear people complain about Molag Bal, I can't help but think it's a lack of creativity or dexterity. All I did was respond to attacks on the fly, figure out quickly by eyeballing what does more damage and what doesn't, kept my defensive abilities up, and just mashed the attack button. Plus I'm pretty sure whatever that light buff Meridia gives you is still there, which seems like it pumps up regen and attack power if I'm not mistaken. Really, there's no trick, no overwhelming stat mountain... just more of the same tactics from the past 40ish levels. I seriously do not think a nerf is necessary at all (facepalm), this seems so minor compared to other content out there.

Its a sustain fights and nightblades have siphoning strikes. It might take 5 or even 10m but you should be able to do this pretty easy that.

As a nightblade i killed him with the first try without having any idea beforehand what to expect when fighting him. Pretty much all one has to do is equip a bow, keep constantly moving and heal yourself with strife/swallow soul or siphoning strikes. As the person above said , the fight is about sustainability and keeping your character at max range.

I appreciate the reply, but to Camilla, I don't think I lack in creativity or dexterity. Afterall, I got to this point. The fact of the matter is that I am quite squishy. I did not receive any regen boosts, nor did blocking seem to have any affect. One blue orb, which cannot be dodged, took about 25-30% of my health. It doesn't take much of that to end up dead. Either way, I did figure out that Strife fixes everything in this fight, and lil Mo' is now dust. I would guess the ease with which you were able to dispatch him had to do with a different set of skills and play style from my own, rather than an overwhelming amount of incompetence on anyone's part.

EDIT: It is still silly that I had to take an ability in a tree I wasn't intending to focus on to do this. However, I guess I have more skill points than the Eight to spare at this point, so it's not a big deal.

If you block it, it send the blue ball of death back to the titans , damaging them in the process.

Thanks for the post, Vanis. It doesn't matter now, as I defeated him, but I wasn't referring to the Titan's orbs. Molag Bal's are the ones I could not block, reflect or dodge, and those hurt the worst.

Interesting how much difference the player class makes. I felt the Molag Bal an anti-climax as the main bad guy was a pushover while many minibosses in this game were way more difficult for my tank.

As Vampire Templar i had massive issues with the Titans... Mr Bal himself was cake.. just that fire damage from the titans was insane... i really had to spend an hour searching for Glyphs of Fire resistance and then a Ring to suit (omg not being able to enchant rings even tho there is no "lock" icon pissed the absolute F!@# out of me)...

i got lucky 1 attempt and most of the titans landed together and was able to Devouring Swarm them but even still i got down to a slither of health and thought i had died again...

Kite backwards in a circle, use heavy bow attack. Dodge when he jumps to avoid his aoe (you don't even have to do this, just keep walking), heal yourself occasionally. Block titans and all their hits will reflect and kill them. Always try to maintain half stamina/magika for the dodges/blocks/heals. Done.

Doing this your health will not drop below 90% and will be overhealed most the time. If people have problems with Molag, I can only assume all their gear is destroyed or low level.

I actually had more trouble with the skellies around Mannimarco than I did with the final fight. I did Molag Bal first attempt with my 49 NB bow/dw build. Like the previous posts mentioned...siphoning is your friend. I just kept away from him and ranged him the whole time and kept a flow of health going with swallow soul. Stat food and potions don't hurt to have, either.

Yes, once I took and slotted Strife, the fight was really easy. I honestly never had trouble with the Titans, or even Molag Bal himself. If he didn't have those blue orbs you can't avoid, I wouldn't have needed the self-heal to kill him, either. Either way, this case is closed.

Light armor mage here -- Those skeletons *WRECKED* me. Molag Bal was a pushover compared to those ***.

Edit: Molag Bal once caught me with his teleporty skill thing. He knocked me down and it permanently dropped me to 7 FPS... it was awful getting him down to 10% at 7 FPS!

If by chance you are wearing any light armor and you have Annulment from the Light Armor tree... It really saves you big time from those little blue orbs and the titans' magic spit.

Honestly about this fight I have one thing to say: boredom. Downed it in second attempt (first got surprised by titans). Played it as templar, titans were really easy, just do some sweeping and that's it. Then the boring part was boss itself. Going in melee was out of options (could be wtf damage done to me) so i kited it for like 10 minutes or so. Effect? Casted maybe two heals on myself, other than that my health was always over 50%...

    Templar + plate armour + 2h sword.
