Vet ranks are boring...

I don't understand why we don't even get a +1 skill bonus or +1 attribute to put in our three stat areas. This would at least gave something to look forward to. Instead of "here is a costume" It also would of kept on the path of personal growth. But nope......

keeping veteran hard could be fine, but they don't need it as grind as it is. They should allow players options of questing, PvP, or dungeons. Players like choices. And even if a few people on here like the super hard mode, keep in mind 70-80% of people will not tolerate it and eventually walk away for a game they can relax on and feel a sense of accomplishment.
Well said. What people need to remember though is that when you advance to veteran content, VR1-5 is the same as 1-50. Its designed to be VR5 around the same time you finish the 2nd factions zone. Just because its only 5 levels instead of 50 doesnt mean a thing other than skill points.

As far as difficulty, I dont find it currently very challenging, im hoping that changes. But achieving VR10 SHOULD get you that sense of accomplishment you speak of, if you played the game as it was intended. If they skipped all quests, pvp, etc and just leveled up by grinding public dungeons, then complain that things arent how they want them, I have no sympathy for them.

More boring content does. Not to mention completely devaluing the replayability of the game with the way they have it. What motivation would the pve ppl have to level up a new toon, in a different alliance, if they have already played through all that alliances content already?? It's lazy design work from ZOS and boring to boot. Far be it from ppl to have the option to do the veteran ranks via pvp or something else that's more dynamic and keeps ppl engaged.

You can get veteran ranks from PVP. Back when broken quests locked some people out of entering certain VR zones, they were able to gain ranks in Cyrodiil. It is slow going now. However, ZOS has already stated that the Craglorn patch will bring higher xp gain in PVP.

As it is some people did the Pvp 20 death kills or some dungeon spams to get v10 rank, and those players now feel a sense of entitlement, but they used broken structures so they lose reality of what the majority face.

Personally I do hope they add more PvE for veteran, as that is something I would pay a monthly sub for. PvP is barely active my time zone and most people will get burned out on it as it is. But a great story like PvE offers is awesome!

They are adding more PVE. It's called Craglorn and it's an entire zone. Don't expect to just solo it though.
  • tdgeddesub17_ESO
Its content for vr10-12's. People keep saying that VRs 1-10 in other zones is more content. No, it's not. It is a blatant time sink while they are developing that content. The problem is, after crag horn releases now we have to make it through the other faction zones. It's like Diablo, you've beat the game! But now you do it again harder as an alliance that you didn't want to be in the first place. There is absolutely nothing innovative or cool about this current vr system. Timesink content gating. Eso's painful version of rep grinding

Although I've had my issues and arguments with ZOS, the issue of VR content was not their fault. The fault belongs to the players.

The game wasn't originally designed with VR content. There were 3 races per faction and you were tied to one and only faction. This didn't sit well with many former TES players and PvE players that complained this would lock them out of 2/3 of the content without having to create alts. So, the solution was Cadwell's Silver and Cadwell's Gold. It is now designed to give you almost exactly 1 level per zone for 10 additional zones.

I always hear arguments that developers should listen to the players. Listening to uninformed players that have no idea how to design a game is not the answer. Most of the posts on these boards that contain such "great ideas" are nothing but personal preference and crap suggestions.
  • tdgeddesub17_ESO
I feel there is a difference between locking characters out of content, allowing them access to it through awards/completions, and forcing it on them. I guess they chose A and then switched to C when people complained. Making this 'additional content' as linear as possible was just poor planning.

It would have been cool to have each addl. alliance unlockable through quests and allowed the benefit of getting their motifs, pvp buffs/rewards, and once all done unlock daedric motifs, other buffs. The best part is that if you don't care about that stuff, you wouldnt have to do it. The sky is the limit on what could have been done.

Oh well. I'm totally fine with people enjoying VRs, i just don't understand why it HAS to be choice C, or GTFO

I don't get this. You get a game where you get 150 levels worth of content. They explain the other factions as a what if scenario. Sure it takes a bit more suspension of disbelief, but they're not saying you are actually working for the other faction. They're saying what if you were to experience the other side? So it's not happening for real in thematic game terms.

Well my 1-50 zone has tons of holes on the map since I leveled pretty quickly thru it. Now that I'm in VR zones I'm getting the other factions achievements/medals since I have to complete every damn thing that's available on the map to get the vp needed to level now. It's a wee bit stupid that I have to spend more time to clear content for the other 2 factions that I didn't want to play to begin with instead of the faction I chose.

It's not "more content". It's tacked-on, boring and consistently immersion breaking content that SHOULD NOT be there. They should have set the cap at level 50 and then given each faction their own content instead of sharing it around in the form of veteran ranks.

    OR

If they had actually adjusted the dialogue to fit vet rank players who are there from another faction, then they could do vet ranks.

I loved questing from 1-50 i picked being Aldmeri Dominion for a reason. If i wanted to level through the other alliances i would have made characters for them. I hate how we fight against our own. to me this was just a lazy way to hold us by till they come out with end game content. I would level my vet ranks in pvp but the xp is a joke, i played for 6 hours and only got 3% of a vet level. Vet ranks needs to be fixed. I've been playing mmos since ultimate online, people are going to quit this game because of vet ranks. If nothing is done I bet you this game will fail. reason why WoW is able to keep their costumers is because they cater to them. everyone thought WoW was to hard, people started quitting because of the big grind fest to get to 60. blizzard realized this and made the game easier to level so they got a lot more costumers. I am half way to vet 3 and i did everything in the vet 2 area. what do i do next? get into a big grind group for 10 hours till i hit vet 3 to go to the next area? I also never can find a group to do a vet dungeon... the looking for group system is broken and links you up with all dps.

May I suggest another dose of Ritalin? Should help quite a bit. :expressionless:

I play the game at a nice pace, enjoying all the things to do and have mkanaged to get to level 31, I think a lot of you rushed things , now the one thing I agree on is that this vet level stuff really needs to have a good XP curve in the pvp arena, idon't want to do the other factions quests to gain vet ranks , I want to level a character in each faction and do all the quests that way!

I will say that it appeared to me that the design intent was to allow you to level in PVP. I agree with you. Hopefully they are adjusting the PVP side of things without allowing people to use it to exploit like they were at headstart. That might be part of the issue. They need to find a balance and I hope they are able to accomplish that soon. I don't know if I would take it as they lied to you, but more of systems in place at the beginning were being abused and therefore adjusted significantly.

Okay I know I haven't gone through all ten zones of vet content, but I've only found a few quests that seem directly out of place for me anyways. Sure I'm in the other faction, but you could see yourself almost a neutral party for most of the side quests.

Here is how I see it, it's a MMO and all the zones should be available to us anyways. They decided to make the poorly implemented Vet Ranks and have you grind 50+ and 50++ because they have no endgame... oh and lets release craglorn which will give you more VR to grind in a tedious fashion.
