Halls of Torment

Grunnvinr6
Grunnvinr6
Soul Shriven
This has got to be one of the worst quests that I've ever had the displeasure of doing in a game.

I literally cannot seem to progress. I go in, clear the trash prior to the boss and whatever.

I initiate the fight, and a few moments later my companion will just stop helping me, as if there's a script error or something. Lyris will just stand completely still, and do nothing.

It renders the encounter impossible.

Wait for the second boss. She has a teleport attack that roots you in place, summons adds that will fully heal her, can use it without a line of sight, has a ranged, undodgable blast attack without cc, a dodgable stagger attack, and can spam any of those attacks at will.

The Lyris doppelganger is the second boss. If the one you're talking about is the third, then it sounds even more skewered.

It's really hard for me to explain this, though. I could do it better if I had a video or something, but I can't.

    so let me try again.

I start the encounter, and it seems to go normally. Lyris will go in, and take aggro off of the boss. That's fine -- it allows me to attack without problems.

But then she'll stop. She's stand completely still, and the boss switches to me. It's as if there's some sort of script error that causes her to cease actually 'existing' in the world or something, I don't know.

But when that happens, the encounter becomes impossible. I can't balance killing the orbs, kiting the boss to avoid her near one shot ability (Which can be cast at any time she wants, and is -way- too fast). While I'm doing all that, I have to, somehow, kill the boss herself.

It's impossible, is what it is. It's also beyond infuriating.

No, that's the fight I'm talking about, and with your follower (it doesn't matter which one you take, they both do it) shutting down mid fight and watching you die.

    Ah.

Well, I'm glad to see I'm not having this problem. That's exactly what happens, though. She just shuts down.

I've seriously considering unsubbing over this; and I bought the Collector's Edition. It's the last thing I want to do, and believe me -- i realize that games can be buggy when they launch.

But this; this stops progress entirely. I cannot progress in the main quest because at this point, I cannot kill this boss. It's impossible.

I've had this happen with Lyris multiple times on different quests, it is very annoying.

LOL.. I am glad I'm not the only one having an issue.

Lyris Titanborn is a complete waste of space, standing around with her finger up her arse while Lyris Dobbleganger runs around with a never ending supply of heal orbs, just laughing and mocking me.

Ironically, it's not so much different than the never ending supply of dungeon bots, who laughingly mock me while I desperately attack the dungeon boss in a hopeless attempt to garner a blue drop. Not saying that ZOS is standing around with their finger up their arse while the bot brigade mocks and laughs at me, just saying it's how I feel.

yes, the "helpers" never help and it's very annoying. Had the same thing on the level 40 Fighter's Guild quest.

That last boss is very tough. As a sorcerer I had to drop my ultimate (storm atronach) and just spam burst dmg. Finally I got enough good RNG on crystal fragments procs that I killed her before she was healed from her orbs.

Good luck on this, and I feel your pain!

I finally managed to do it; after coming to the conclusion that melee would just not suffice. (At that point, I'd wiped ~15 times.)

I had to use a Destruction staff; and was finally able to slowly get her health down.

Apparently I fight another one of these later, so I'm not exactly looking forward to that.

All you have to do is kill the orbs and they will heal you. When she winds up to cast the "force choke" as I call it, block. You'll take little damage and not be stunned. If you don't block it, you're stunned right when she summons the orbs, which costs valuable seconds of time you need to be chasing down the orbs.

No different than the Doshia fight. No different than the fighter's guild final quest (you fight an elite lamia there too). There's also Lamias like this out in the world in later quest zones.

They aren't easy to kill but you have to learn how to kill these "orb bosses"...

Blocking has never worked for me. I tried that. Maybe it's a latency issue or that I'm not running Sword and Board... I don't know. But I've been picked up by that strike during a block.

Technically they're called Harvesters, and Doshia is a harvester, she's just a very weak one.

Well, as a bow-sorcerer it took me several tries, but here's how I finally did it for those that are interested.I started as level 32, and actually dinged to 33 I tried so many times. As far as Lyris, that's the last time she's ever invited to one of my parties. What a waste of pixels she is.

For starters, I am an alchemist, and I have a potion that grants me 300 spell crit for 10 seconds. My rotation was as follows.
    1) Cast Fighters guild circle of protection
    2) Drink Spell crit potion
    3) Spam Crystal Fragments until I get stunned
    4) Use Silver bullet to nuke Healing orbs
    5) Cast rune prison on Dopple
    Repeat step 5 until health/magicka/stamina are 100 %

Repeat as necessary. Took me about 6 rotations, mainly because a couple healing orbs got past me, and also cause that wonderful assistant Lyris would occasionally decide to swing her axe once to break rune prison, then go back to picking her nose.

After that, the last battle was very anti-climatic.

I block and it does nothing. I shoot the orbs, and they don't die. And there are 4-6 of the things every time. I went back as a level 38 Nightblade who trashes everything else in the game, and this stupid Harvester is literally unkillable. For a level 30 quest.

And yes, I know, tactics for the Harvester. Fine. I'm doing that. But in that dungeon only, tons of latency, more orbs than should be there, and Lyris is useless. When are you supposed to learn tactics for Harvesters anyway? Doshia is so nerfed she's laughable, and all the Dolmen ones dies instantly. Seriously, I killed a Dread Harvester today. With the 15 other people trashing the level 45 Dolmen. When were tactics going to be useful or learnable there? She died in four seconds, with no orb attacks ever used.

I can't even get past the first boss... Lyris NEVER starts helping me.... I cannot even get past the skeletons-which is sad. The skeletons glitch out or something and make contact with my character from across the room. When this happens, I cannot run and my walk is turned into slow-motion. There's NO WAY to win this fight.... it's not even fun anymore.

Yup, definitely something is wrong with this quest-line. I am currently progressing through it and both Lyrises (pl?) are definitely glitched. I couldn't see any of the action movements of the Boss Lyris, so I kept ending up on my ass when she would mysteriously charge me.

    Lyrii, maybe?

Yeah, that's actually worse than when I ran it. At least for me, the first boss bugged out and just stood there staring at me while I beat him to death... not the most heroic moment, but then... ugh.

  • TheMoDiiFii3r
Haha. I was stressing so much at these with my Nightblade level 34, I cant beat Lyris Doppelganger and died multiple times in all 3 bosses...

So I made a sorcerer, went to Halls of Torment level 31, didnt die once and breezes through all bosses. <3 Sorcerer :D:D
