This is a review of ESO by Zero Punctuation. One of my favourite, and easily the best, games reviewers.

Easily the best game reviewer!? I mean.

Yahtzee is great, don't get me wrong, but he's probably the worst game reviewer on the planet. His reviews should come with the disclaimer, FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY!

You should look before you post. Oh wait that takes actual thought & effort. There is already a post about this & have been several.

Yeah, but in between his cynicism are his valid points of the game. He just coats it with a comedic lacquer

Yep, I saw one posted a few minutes before mine, which was under the title of "Yup...", so I can be forgiven for not thinking it was the same review. I also saw you posted the same response under that one too. You could of informed me politely, but oh wait, that takes actual thought and effort.

So, I'm supposed to click on every single post, just to make sure it doesn't contain the same review? Wind your necks in.

A very funny entertainer. Not a game reviewer.

The first part at least makes him better than the other youtube entertainers that have been linked here recently.

Most youtube reviewers just seem to rant and rave about the same things people on these forums complain about. "Blah Blah paywall", "Blah Blah bugs and bots". They don't actually review the game. At least from the 3 or 4 that I've watched.

Because they don't review, they echo the most positive or negative vibe in the gaming community (usually negative because it sells better) and run with it.

I don't generally listen to reviewers, but Zero Punctuation peaks my attention, mostly because we share a cynical view of AAA games (I am in my 30's after all, and growing tired of the drivel being pumped out in recent years :P) . I am enjoying ESO, but it's more of a case of how long, more than how much.

Isn't that the case with most games? Everything dies. It's just a question of when

I didn't see any valid points, I saw contrived nonsense whose sole purpose was to be the target of his, typical Yahtzee, nugget and bum jokes.

He starts off with a rant about MMOs and how nobody every asked for Skyrim to be an MMO... yeah... such accurate and valid points. Will there ever be a multiplayer Skyrim? was probably the most asked question in the history of the internet.

Anyway, as I've said, he's a funny guy. I really enjoyed his schtick a couple years ago before it was played out, but he's never given anything even remotely similar to a fair and comprehensive review of any game. In my book that makes him a terrible reviewer.

I didn't mean general game death. ESO has a missing 'X Factor', something which keeps me excited and coming back, but it's something I'm having trouble finding. Once I've done the vet levels over the next week, I'm not sure what will keep me here. PvP is fleeting and Craglorn won't be out until after the first round of subscription charges. By which time I would of hoped to of made my mind up.

I dunno, I suppose I'll figure it out before the 3rd of May :P

Well, it does have it for me. But I am not the typical MMO player that races to endgame.

You see, I'll probably START vet levels by... Xmas?
It's just not the game for you, like Wildstar (played the beta) wasn't for me. Neither game is bad, just that is pointless forcing a vegan to eat delicious fillet, no?

Of course he is the worst reviewer .... that's because he's a critic.

He gets paid to dislike things.

He's a humorist, not a game reviewer. Once you approach his videos with that in mind you'll enjoy them. No, this is not a remotely serious game review and it wasn't intended as one.

That was hilarious. Not really a review or anything close to it really, but really funny. The part about being gangbanged by enemies too high a level for you....lolz. And the "you attack first", "no you attack first"

I'm by no means a racer, or hardcore MMO'er. I think I average between 2 to 3 hours a day and I'm now level 50 three weeks after release. I think my 'X factor' might be challenge. The game in general isn't difficult, except some of the world bosses.

Healing in dungeons is uber fun though.

I agree on the challenge observation but truth is already as it is you have loads of people screaming nerf "because the difficulty is insane"

    yeah I know

I think the general consensus on difficulty is that it's unpredictable. Some mobs (mainly bosses) require a simple kick in the nuts to die, whilst others need tactical nukes. There's no middle ground for 'on the fly' adjustments.

Normal mobs only get easier to own as you level though. In the 40-50 bracket, maybe lower, all I had to do in a public dungeon was to cast volcanic rune (from the Mages Guild tree) and impulse (from the Destruction Staff tree) and a group of 5 mobs would be dead in 3 or 4 seconds. I wouldn't even be hurt.

I think mobs difficulty isn't just relative to their level (and yours) but different mob types are easier for different builds. But I like unpredictability
