-:Skeptical to download add-ons:-

From my understanding, E.S.O.U.I website has been given permission to host legal downloadable add-ons/ ui mods for E.S.O, (from what I've read in earlier beta day threads, please correct me if I'm wrong.) I'm still skeptical as with all the banning issue's being so uptight, that downloading any of these add-ons may not be legit.

My question is basically, is this a legit website to be able to download any addons from listed on this website? Or are there some that i should not download, that aren't certified for E.S.O?

Yes, I am running many of the addons from that site for things like skyhard locations, lorebook locations. Buff/debuff icons and a minmap.

You can also get mods from :

I'm running 8 add-ons... no issues here. I get mine from ESOUI and I use their Minion installer.

I'd avoid downloading addons from any site that looks shady or hasn't been around long.

Curse has been around for years and deals with more than just ESO. They've always been pretty reliable.

ESOUI is another site that's part of a larger network and is safe to use.

I've no personal experience with TESO Tools, so I can't really say much about them.

As long as the addons don't have any .exe files you are fine.

It is like any MMO you play that has addons. You shouldnt be worried about banning for using mods.
ESOUI, Curse and Nexus is the only places you should be getting mods from.

Yes. Only 3rd party Tools which are helping in the game are not allowed. Normal addons are ok.

I'm also running about 8 addon and using the minion installer.

They are allowed by zenimax, they tested various addons in beta and changed what info was available to the addon makers as they initially they felt there was a little too much info.

These addons are using the tools zenimax made available for this purpose.

I only download addons through the Minion interface. I've had zero issues and run about 10+ addons. I'd recommend doing it through Minion instead of manually installing and finding addons. Much easier and safer.

This is very good advice. I've been following the guy running the Teso tools site for a while now, and think his guild is a pretty stand up bunch. I was giving them a "plug" really. But I should edit my post and only include the 2 main / trusted sites for mods.

    Point taken :)

Addons which edit the use of already IN GAME functions are called add-ons, because they only add to the functionality that's already there.

MODS that completely change an aspect, such as character skins that otherwise would not be available to normal players, are what is considered illegal. Cheats and Hacks that break normal gameplay to give a player an advantage over others are also illegal.

ESOUI and Curse are both trusted sites that thousands and thousands of players use, including myself!

If you're ever unsure, it's always wise to ask just like you did. :)

I wasn't criticizing your post at all Kyotee, or even TESO Tools, merely giving the OP some feedback to help out. :) That's why I mentioned not having any background with them, they look legit from what I can see, but beyond that I don't know much about them.

I did forget about Nexus though. :( Don't know how I overlooked them, I get most of my Skyrim mods from that site.

Skyrim allowed actual MODS of the game. This is NOT allowed in ESO.

Yup, go for it... some addons really add to the game (well, hence the name addon ofcourse :) )

And? elder scrolls online nexus also hosts addons.

I had to edit my post again to change "mods" to "addons"..I'm tired and tend to find the forums more interesting than the bot infested game at this time.

Thanks for the heads up../sleepy eyes - I should log off and relax a while!

Which changes what, exactly? They also host addons for ESO, and as such the Nexus is a legitimate site to acquire them from.

    http://www.nexusmods.com/elderscrollsonline/?

I never said anything about 'mods' for ESO. In fact, I specifically stated 'addons' in my earlier post. I only mentioned Skyrim as a matter of context, given that the Nexus has been around for quite some time and is a trusted site.

Used to download all my addons from curse for WoW, although i only used about 3-6 from what i remember. I thought ESOUI was the only site promoting addons for ESO, but i guess the nexus & curse are as well.

Personally I don't use any, I see them as a crutch. If people wanna use them, that's fine by me though. Although, people shouldn't be surprised if they restrict the API more in the future considering some of the addons are very questionable atm.

Kinda wanna play my first play-through all without add-ons, then my next play-through with. But some of the add-ons i see , for example 1 being to view my current buffs i have on me, instead of having to click "C", is extremely handy, and i.m.o. All MMO's at the very least display the type of buffs you have on screen from the ones ive played, why ZOS didn't implement such a feature i dont know, i find it very silly to have to click C, watch my character spin around, just to check my active buffs.

Anyways that's just one of the add-ons i plan on using, have to look through them all to see which ones ill want.

Well, most buffs have a visual indicator, aside from potions, or food, SO there really is no need to press C. Like I said, if people wanna use em, that's fine, but I am very happy this game is not "like every other mmo" and took a road less traveled.
