I have a question, and a slight issue. I hate to be a copy/paster here but on
ESO ROAD AHEAD post it was stated that:
Our testing has now confirmed that millions of players from Europe (and beyond) can play on our North American server and experience ESO as it was designed—without latency or lag problems.
But how is that possible? Seriously, is it actually possible? I'm here whining because I do experience noticeable lag, I do get 2 minute load screens, I get (albeit very infrequently) 2 minute server rollbacks where I just lose progress altogether (not much though).
I've just found the IP I'm connecting to from my client and did a simple
tracert to it, and I exceeded the max of 30 hops. How is it remotely possible that users in EU, who are geographically farther away from the server than users in NA, will have the same experience?? As I see it, if I'm being relayed through 30+ nodes then I'm going to experience much more latency than users going through 5. Isn't that basic networking?
I'm not trying to be a know-it-all smarty pants here, I just don't see how that statement holds any... well, fact. Is there an actual date for the EU data centre being brought online?
All that said, I have a mostly good experience despite being on a NA server and the game is great!
