Why isn't the PC version getting controller support?

It says ESO PC version is optimized for mouse/keyboard but the game is identical to Xbox/PS version which obliviously has mapping for the controllers.

Whats hard about putting the mapping on the PC?

It's low on the priority list right now- playable 1st, licky-chewy's 2nd. Just get xpadder there are several profiles out there. Try searching add-on in the forums, Nexus mods has an easy to use one, so does esoui. I do think you will see support closer to XBOX1/PS4 release date in June.

Agreed. It is very low on the list since bugs, bots and other crawlies should be fixed first.
Besides, if people want to play with a controller they can buy the console version.
PC version = optimized for PC = Keyboard.

I had to change the key bindings all around since they way it is on default hurt my hand. Moving with W,S,A,D then hitting X with my thumb or ~ to swap to my 2nd weapon set.

I always use a controller on PC games that support them. xpadder sucks so bad. Half of the time it would never work when i would bind the buttons different then the layout. Trust me, dont waist your time with xpadder.

ESO gets lazy and expects the Mod community to pick up the slack.

I must use a controller if I want to play for more than a few minutes. My aging wrists cannot take much aggressive mouse action. While Xpadder allows for a workaround, it cannot compare to in-game support.

The inventory is almost a duplicate of SkyUI. Alas, one must still switch to the mouse for navigation as you cannot emulate a tab function to switch between screens or down the menus.

I say "must" but the right stick controls the cursor yet it's not as efficient as an actual tab function.
