Pre-order bonuses being sold as DLC?

One of the reasons I did pre order was after reading this

"Q: Am I able to get the Explorer’s Pack after 4.4.14?
A: No, the Explorer’s Pack is available only if you pre-order or pre-purchase The Elder Scrolls Online. The Explorer’s Pack will no longer be available after the game’s official launch."

http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/news/post/2014/03/25/early-access-and-launch-faq?ref=home

And I wanted the possibility of playing any race in any faction you want, also the bonuses. So I did buy it. But what is my surprise when now I see this site:
https://www.g2a.com/the-elder-scrolls-online-explorer-s-pack-dlc-cd-key-global.html?reflink=eso-explorerpack

Is selling it as DLC. ZOS need to do something against. It supposed to be exclusive until before the launch is just not fair. That means, we just got no bonuses pre ordering besides the early access. :s

Edit:Better title.

What ? That's the first I see of that... that is indeed something that needs to be adressed.... Putting a sticker on it and calling it DLC isn't done...

Cool for bringing this to the forum man. I'm sure if Zos didn't get any notice of this they'll get very ticket off on someone making money of their pre-order codes

Wow... somehow I'm not surprised but wow. Anything to make a buck I guess.

I suggest you contact ZOS directly through their support email system. No guarantees what they can do about it though.

I'd like to hear from them on this, curious as to what's going on there. I would change the title of this post though, friend. Something like "Pre-order bonuses being sold as DLC?" would be more on topic and attract more attention to the issue.

When I tried to order a game from that company and by via my bank, my bank flatly refused... Upon asking why I got told we do not trust this company.... It is "not" a German company by the way, it is located in a different country I shall not name (but most can guess)

This is probably a company that had a number of pre-order keys left and is trying to make money of them... I mean, just check out the prices on some of their games... If something seems too good to be true, it usualy is...

WHOA this is super crooked if it's by Zenimax (and illegal?). Couldn't this be an independent venture where a company or whatever bought a whole bunch of preorders and is selling the explorer pack individual from the game? There are two codes after all...

Well, I agree that pre-order bonuses should never be available again. That is the point of advertising them as PRE-order bonuses. No new codes should be released, ever.

However, I think that making the codes expire can be arguable.

The question is: did the explorer pack codes expire on 4/4/2014 23:59?

It's not Zenimax, it's indeed that company... my bank doesn't trust them and won't allow me to even buy stuff there... As I said, just go look at their prices... Way to good to be true...

People will always try to make money, in whatever way possible and mostly with as little effort as possible... so buying up a whole lot of pre-orders and then selling them after launch is just an easy way to make a quick buck...

I hope Zenimax reads this thread.

No they didn't, they were valid afterwards... I didn't activate mine till the 9th and it worked... I did however preorder the online Imp edition.

Technically the Explorer's Pack is DLC, (Down-Loadable Content).
This is likely a remainder from launch, even the front of the pack says "pre-order now to guarantee your explorers pack"

It gets better, I think that was the company that was claiming that early access codes were the retail ones and wouldn't issue the retail keys to some customers. Though, I'm less sure of that. I know Gamestop didn't bother to tell people which code was which, and amazon didn't explain which code needed to go in first... but, yeah, someone was shafting players out of their codes. (And I'm not talking about the blank explorer and IE code inserts in some physical IEs.)

It amazes me how people react at the thought someone else might get something they aren't, or in this case get something they "don't deserve". I see this everyday at my job in an early years school.

It's even worse than that. These are the Explorer's Pack keys that G2A didn't want to give to people that legitimately paid for them. You can read the whole story here: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/69019/explorer-pack-rewards-missing/

I absolutely think ZeniMax should take legal actions against them.

This sort of thing happens a lot. Big reason why so many of us only buy direct from the game company. (Big reason we got the digital Imperial edition direct from this company.) We got burned or know others that did.

For me and my hubby it was the Mines of Moria preorder bonus (LOTRO). It was an exclusive cape/cloak and a couple ingame barter tokens. Thousands of customers never got it. Turbine would do nothing to help. Years later, those preorder bundles were sold by a merchant through Amazon. I bought one, as I still wanted the cloak. Sad though, that I had to buy what I should have gotten years earlier...

G2A? Legit company I ordered my eso from them and got my early access for the three day head start my copy of eso cost me £30 (& PayPal had a promotion at the time another £5 off) my copy was £25 for ES0.

I also ordered dark souls 2 for £22 got the code early

Sooo g2a been great for me....

They saved me 50 percent on eso and 47 percent off from ds2

You pay by PayPal so if they don't send the code or scam you can easily get the back by PayPal, not that they will scam you.

Kinda dumb that only a select few people were able to play as any race any faction, I totally support people being able to buy it after the fact. Some people might get into the game later then other and any race on any faction is a really cool addition.

"Select Few" means in preference to others due to a quality or desired trait etc...
This was a pre-order bonus offered to everyone who bought the game before the release (and even on release).
So, no a "select few" were not chosen, everyone had the opportunity, if they didn't take it, they have only themselves to blame.

I have done some research on that company and it seems to be hit or miss with them... some people get what they ordered and at extremely sharp prices, while other end up getting either nothing or Russian versions of the game.

When I tried I was aiming for the "the Secret World" massive edition at just over 15 euro's... a 50+ euro game for 15 was a nice offer but alas... my bank wouldn't allow it... That fact alone means they (my bank) has had problems with that site...

Hit or Miss... for 15 euro's I was willing to take a potshot and hope I hit the bullseye :)

My bank throws a snitfit over GMG... though... yeah, G2A strikes me as seriously shady. Granted, my first exposure to them was in that thread above where they were refusing to give out the explorer pack codes.

And it is people that are willing to "take a chance" and deal with crooks and thieves that make the rest of us suffer with bots and gold spammers and all manner of nonsense. If people did not deal with them, they would not make any money and would find something else to do with their time. But, but even just a few falling for their scams and buying their stolen goods it hurts both honest companies trying to make a living and honest people. I do wish it were a punishable crime to deal with known criminals. I would love to see some of these people that support the criminals in jail beside them.

While I too got the Explorer's pack, I can't say I mind if it's for sale. I know how annoyed I would be if there was "DLC" that I just couldn't get. I always tend to get all DLC for the games I really like.

Looks like they're just selling left over pre order keys. Some major brick and mortar store chains ( namely the Media Saturn Group ) in central Europe did essentially the same by the way, they sold tons of boxes with the Explorer Pack long after the official release.

Well some folks may not have heard about the game before launch? Maybe they got into Elder Scrolls at a later date? A lot of people are down on their luck and couldn't buy before the game came out. Some people didn't want to invest in a game that could possibly be riddled with bugs or a game they did not know enough about till others played first.

There are plenty of reasons they missed out on a feature like this, honestly it was a silly thing to have as a pre order. I mean, who bars off races? Could you imagine if at launch of World of Warcraft they let pre orders play any race on any faction? So many people got into that game after the launch that they would be pretty dumb to not offer the feature to others. Heck something like that could have turned people off from the game. Any race on any faction seems pretty big to just offer to only pre orders.

As someone who only just saw an advert for ESO at the start of April, I never had the chance to get the Explorer's Pack... purely based on my circumstances. I know it seems disheartening to think that you aren't special and that you should be recognised for your early interest, but how would me being able to join in on this DLC hurt you?

EDIT: I just completely fail to see the relevance of this post when there are far more pressing matters for ZMO to worry about?

Oh it's not a fact that it either hurt or doesn't hurt people that pre-ordered for me... it's the fact that people seem to have not gotten their codes from them and these are now being sold for extra profit that gets to me...

But yeah, as someone said... pre-ordering from the official site usualy works better as atleast there you know who you're actualy buying from
