Boss Camping

So what's up with boss camping in dungeons?

Spent most of last night and this evening going back through the map, collecting all the skyshards I'd missed first time around. Most of those were in dungeons I'd skipped past.

In almost every public dungeon I visited in Glenumbra and Stormhaven, a group of 5-15 players were camping the named boss. The boss would spawn for maybe two seconds at most before disappearing into thin air.

Why?

Do these bosses drop rare loot? Is it some new levelling technique? Are people just lazy and happy to camp out a frequently spawning boss for a minimal amount of xp like that?

What gives?

I admit I camped a boss before. Did it so I could get blue cloths/staffs to break down/research. If someone needed the kill, or item, I'd wish em luck, and go kill mobs for said stuff.

Lazy people can sit there mashing "1" and get loot for tradeskilling with. People with lesser morals can just automate the whole process. You get a blue item fairly regular from those bosses.

Edit: On that note, my favorite ever was a lowbie dungeon where people were doing this... I looted at least 15 chests that popped within sight of the boss while they were doing this, filled my inventory, even gave away some blues to some of them, and then left. Everyone was so worried about the boss that they just did not even look up. At one point there were 3 chests in the room at once.

Is there a limit on how many people can loot? I ask because in each instance I had to use an AOE to even get a hit on the boss (campers were just too fast and the screen too crowded for me to point and click in time). I would get the 'dungeon completed' message but the corpse was never lootable. Not that I particularly cared since this was a re-run, but for other players who are levelling that's really gotta suck.

I'm not sure how much damage you have to do to qualify for loot. It is true though, if there are too many people then there's just no way everyone gets loot as most are doing a tiny percent of damage.

A fair share of them are just players taking advantage of something that the bots point out to them. There are still a lot of bots, but not as many as people claim. It's normally about 50/50.

It is still a problem. Honestly I think they should mark the boss mobs and put a 10 minute timer on looting them. If you are on cooldown your damage dealt is also not figured into who else gets loot, the percent of remaining HP is used as the new baseline.

I camped a few bosses before the bot wave.

    Then you got
Soul shard - Great for money, recharging, resurrection on the spot

Armor or weapon- break down the ones with bonus to crafting, sell the ones with bonus to merchants

Potion- no need for an alchemist what they drop potions of all types like candy

    1-2 gold..... YES!

Green or blue Boss specific item (which in itself has 'farm me until you get this' all over it)

Then some silly thing like a glyph or crawlers.

What do we get now? I honestly don't know I cant get the damage % to get loot anymore way to many boss camping bots insta killing them.

yeh iv had a chat to a few of them, yes they answered back. from what i can tell its all about the items they drop they farm all the blues/glyphs etc and after an hour can deconstruct it all (or trade some off) and level all of theyr skills, or sell it to others to do so. basically players botting by choice.

gold farmers, the boss drops all kinds of loot and can be sold to a vendor that way the gold farmers can span there gold sales and make real life money from selling gold to peoples acc. then after the get acc info they would prolly hijack the acc....this needs to be fixed every single public dungeon had loads of templars using nothing but there iedric spears and killing off dungeon boss's. and my ignore list is full can no longer use zone chat, can no longer comuicate with others...the game is becoming non enjoyable..i had high hopes to...

In the VR stuff I have done that a couple times for soul gems and trying to level my WW by circling through the whole dungeon a few times, but only at most 5 times, and also helping out the solo players because soloing VR content is or can be difficult.

Instead of creating yet another damned thread on this subject you'd have been making better use of your time by READING the umpteen threads already prattling on about it.

The more threads made on the subject the more chance that the dev team will actually do something about it because as it is solo dungeons are less than worthless.
