Compared to a few other MMO launches that I've seen, this one is going just perfectly well. Yes, there are issues, but devs seem to be determined to get everything in order as soon as possible and so I don't think there is much reasoning behind your 4.3 rating.

Pretty unrealistic if you're being objective, but then some people prefer to push an agenda .. and I'm not suggesting IGE have an agenda.

This score seems... Kinda forgiving, the content locking bugs seem to have been rather brushed aside on this review, which I believe would be the main factor to change the score. The way the bugs are I would believe the scores would have been more 5-6, but once it became more bug-free it would rise to 8-9. Well, I guess this is better for the marketign of the game :P

I am a bit surprised considering how much they hyped it but then again, I dont often read their, or other reviews much anyway so I do not know if this 7.8 is good or not. Probably it is as, from what I`ve seen, they tend to rate quite strictly.

However, about the graphics I have to disagree. I mean, I never really care for graphics, especially in MMOs, but I think the game is beautiful. Okay, I might have low standards but reading comments, I am not the only one thinking like this. (Wanted to check WoW review for example if they are really strict on graphics there too but I couldn`t find even for MoP. Anyway, it is not that important.)

Dark anchors are, in fact, repetitive but I still hop in if I see one nearby as I can still find it fun and refreshing from questing (which is also fun), too bad anchors don`t really scale for more than 4 people.

Also, I understand the issues with bugs but we must not forget, that most of this can, and hopefully, will be fixed in a month`s time, of course it won`t get reviewed again but if all gets ironed out by the first expansion/DLC, it might get a lot higher rating then. (Having said that, if the bugs are ironed out for console release and they don`t mess up anything badly there, I imagine it would get a higher score.)

All in all, after checking the point, I expected a very negative review but the reviewer sounded he was actually having fun in the game and liked it.

7.8 is fair but all these big review gaming sites get paid HUGE amounts of $$$ from game companies. Gee I wonder how many ads I would see on IGN for ESO right now?

I would score it a 8 at this stage but I'm a fan of ESO.

All I have to say is judging by some of the comments, if you are not happy with the current product why stay here and complain about it when you could go and find something you actually enjoy playing?

I myself rarely read reviews cause I like to form my own opinions about something, rather than being told if a reviewer thinks a particular game will be something I would like or not, whatever happened to thinking for yourselves and determining your own viewpoint on a given game?

Probably because they enjoy more trolling and whining than actually playing something

Because people love to complain, I imagine that is the favourite past-time activity for many people, why else would many of them just follow ESO, or by any game by that matter, on FB and whine at every single post and argue with others? And not some constructive criticism (Even if it was, desperately following something so you can constructive criticize it all along would be... an obsession), but trolling and provoking fights.

Now, I do not say people here are like that, but people in general can be.

IGN .... the Fox News of the gaming industry.

Completely biased towards certain companies and games (EA and ActiVision come to mind).

I can't take anything said on that site seriously.

Have you read the comments people leave on there?

It's like they are in competition with Youtube to see how many idiotic replies they can get in a short space of time.

If it was not for all the bugs, the poor game design and the fact that is is troublesome and in most cases not worth the time to play with others I would give the game a solid 8.5. But as it is now it's a weak 5.

What really grinds my gear, is that most reviews compare the graphics of TESO with Skyrim. C'mon, seriously? Are people that daft that they think an MMO will have Skyrim graphics? Seriously? In my book, that tells a lot about the integrity of the one reviewing the MMO. You don't compare an MMO's graphics with Single player graphics, it's 2 complete different things, it's common knowledge that MMOs sacrifice some graphics to cater most PCs so they can maximize their potential subscribers. How about something realistic, how about comparing TESO graphics with every other MMO out there, hm?

When you do that, the story is vastly different. The only MMO I've come over with this complete and good looking graphics, would be The secret world, despite its gameplay, the graphics there are really well done.

I've read a lot of reviews around TESO, and most seem to judge the book by its standard of not being Elder Scrolls and don't have Skyrim graphics. I don't care about the character as I read the review and don't care about the numbers, it just pisses me off that an MMO are judged by its merits of graphics and how much it's Single player Elder scrolls or not. There are precious few reviews out there that judge the game by its standards of being an MMO, how they stand against other MMOs, how good/bad they are compared to other MMOs and whether or not this is a well-build MMO. No, they judge it by how its single player is. Seriously, reviewers, get your act together, judge it as an MMO and not as a bloody single player. But then again, I've lost all faith in reviewers these days, both for films and for games. They've lost more or less all of the integrity in my eyes by not managing to convey why this is a good/bad film/game.

And that boys and girls is why most of us don't bother with IGN ratings. Because they are incapable to give an honest score to big companies.

I give IGN 1/10 , and i base that on not beeing paid by them.

It is a fair score, the bugs, broken quests, and skills being broken has done more harm than good.

MMOS make or break on the first month. ESO is going to have a hard time, unless they can fix this stuff before it ends.

This game is average to good overall , a 6/7 would be a score i would give to it.

Considering how one of my chars has been stuck with a bug for 5/6 days now and the support seems to not even know how to fix it , you can say im having more trouble than most.

With that said , i dont think one should give the game a score based on its current bugs , to a point , but mostly to the core content , which is not bad in ESO , even if it nothing amazing either.

Well I would give TESO 7.6 or so. It is good but it still misses things and it has obvious problems as well. The thing about IGN is that they change their official reviews based on bribery as well and you should never trust their reviews until further research.

I am shocked that this review says the graphics on this game is not good. Unless of course they were playing on some kind of garbage PC with a weak graphics card and had to run on low settings. Otherwise it makes no sense. Complaining about bugs in a review seems silly as well considering every MMO has them especially at the beginning.

Completely agree. I am also really getting fed up of people comparing this to Skyrim. If a game reviewer can't understand the technical and design limitations of an MMO when reviewing an MMO then they are not worth my time.
The fact is if this game was not set in the Elder Scrolls world then people would be praising it a hell of a lot more than they are. Yes there are still big issues to overcome such as bots and bugs, but these are things that will be fixed in time.

I tend to start off with a score of 10 and then deduct 0.1 for each bug/broken quest crash/unsheduled maint that I encounter during a week, so 7.8 is probably about right.
