Should we be able to craft costumes?

As the title suggests, should we? I quite like the looks of some of the lower level tiers of gear (specifically Bosmer medium t1 on my Khajiit), yet I find that I have to ditch this look as I upgrade my gear, and often end up with pieces that are similar in style but have different coloration, completely ruining the look of the set.

I think it would be great to be able to craft costumes of these sets for our characters to wear (for the cost of a full set of minimum level armor of that tier), perhaps with different colors in order to add some variety to the mix.

What do you think? Would you want this as a feature of crafting?

I don't think it's a good idea. That would make costumes entirely too common and defeat the purpose of all the racial crafting styles that currently exist since no one would care about getting a matched set of gear. Why bother with obtaining a matching set when you can just throw on a costume and overwrite the armor models?

However, I would like to see some kind of custom armor dyes or something along those lines so people would be able to differentiate themselves from everyone else wearing the same style of armor.

Paul Sage had indicated in a past interview that there are not real plans for dye yet...

    LMAO

I can't wait for the first costumes to come out in the store and hear all the "THATS NOT LORE FRIENDLY/ I'm quitting if you sell those"

Not quite sure I see how it would detract from people wanting to get matched sets. if you want a matched set...you get it. honestly, I see it helping matched sets. People will want to get more matched sets when they know they won't outlevel them in 4 levels. you like a matched set from your 40's? too bad...if you want to survive end game, you need 50+ gear.

until costume sets come along, then bam! suddently theirs a market for that 40's set you can craft.

Personally, I think its needed. There is absolutely no reason why players should be stuck wearing what some designer thought looked cool or interesting...how about making a bunch of cool or interesting gear, and then give us the option of choosing which combo's we like?

I thought that was the whole point of the motifs?

FOr costumes I dont think we need them. I would rather see named items and Dyes for gear.

I think this is actually a wonderful idea!

We could have an extra option when choose what piece of equipment to craft that would allow us to create a cosmetic set.

I'd really like to see cosmetic items expanded upon.
If you can be anything, be kind.

    I'd like that.
Last game I played was a real challenge to find items for costumes and trophies for your house.
Of course it would add to extra drama to my mini inventory game I play, but it would be worth it.

Just the option to craft high level gear with their lower level appearance would be a good start. Some of the motif sets just look better in their lower levels, especially the tribal stuff.
2h weapons impossibly large to wield? Sure! Tight, creaky leather that inexplicably improves your stealthiness? Absolutely! Absurd, liability prone plate designs? So long as they're concealing and no molded chest then A-ok! Skimpy armor? THAT'S UNREALISTIC! <_<

I was thinking about this too since there is a slot for costumes and most of the gears crafted or looted don't look too good. In Guild Wars there was an option to combine two items, one for the stats and the other for the looks, there should be a similar option like this over here.
    My 2 cents.

Dyes were announced in the reddit ama a few days ago ,they will be earned through achievements.

Sure, as long as it's restricted to your own craft abilities, being able to make a set and then "lock" it into a outfit would be great.

It sucks that the awesome looking robe and hood with heavy gauntlets and greaves is just plain worse than if reversed.

Gaming/Gearing for benefit to stay competitive while being aestheticly detrimental is one of my pet peeves about MMO's

I think it's better if costumes come from seasonal and one off events.

For example, lvl 50 Altmer gear is this cool metalic green and gold, the V1-3 is grey/white...which is kind of neat, but it loses a lot of the detail.
