Suggestion for Gold Spammers in Chat
I made previous post about deterring spammers from using the in game mail to promote their garbage. But if the idea was applied to the chat system, it would have more affect on actual players so here's my idea to fix spam in chat.
Create a chat filter program, like the language filter that's in the options. It's simple really, It filter's phrases like "selling gold" "USD/EUR" "www.", for starters, obviously this will need a lot of filters since sellers will do stupid stuff like "W W W" and will most likely need to evolve as they get creative but you get the idea. Even better, have the program keep a log of the company names that sell gold, and if that ever pops up make it an instant red flag. Obviously it would need to be a certain amount of these phrases and words but seriously, whens the last time you were talking to someone in game and had any of the stuff they say in one sentence. Now when I say filter I don't mean the little stars, I mean if something a gold spammer just tried to post in Zone chat has enough crap to flag it as spam, it shouldn't show at all in chat. They are then muted for 5 mins, on the off chance its an innocent player. Maybe get muted a few times with increasing time increments and then kicked and eventually banned. If I could code I would totally make this for Zeni, but I can't and I don't know how much a strain on the servers this would be but I can't imagine its that tough to implement.
