The one thing that will keep me from subing

The spam and bots. Every single dungeon or mine I go into is full of bots attacking the boss. I mean how hard is it for them to determine a bot. I mean there are 12 characters standing on top of the boss location..all named "ghld" and "asdss". I understand there is a lot of work that goes into these games but from the total rampant bot and spammers it appears they did nothing in the planning stages to stop this. Why do bosses constantly give off rewards even after you kill them more than once? Why not just have it give one reward and then stop?

If this doesn't change very soon I don't think I'll resub after 30 days. I like the game a lot but I'm not paying $$ monthly to see people constantly break the rules and do whatever they want.

Some players like to farm for things. It's basically like a slot machine, only you're betting time instead of money, and potentially receiving items instead of a cash payout.

That's why I'm against the boss timer solution for the bot problem. Anyone should be able to farm a boss for an item they want. They don't need to take the privilege away from everyone just because the bots are abusing it.

They simply need to find a way to identify which players are bots immediately upon login. No amount of manual policing by players or Zenimax will resolve the issue.

In the things that are being worked on thread over in customer support, they say they're going to be limiting how much loot you can get within a certain time period for a public dungeon. So like, once you've gotten so much stuff stops dropping for a period of time. No ETA as far as I know on it, but it is something they're working on. Exact wording is as follows:

"Public Dungeon & Delve Boss Monsters – Also based on feedback, we will be placing a timer on how often you can get loot from public dungeon and delve boss monsters. This timer is shared across all boss monsters in public dungeons and delves. This will not impact loot timers for quest-specific monsters or overworld group bosses. Watch the patch notes for news on when this change will go live."

They also have a thread devoted to taking action against botters and the like if you wanted to keep updated on what they are doing here:

Great, now I can't farm for loot. In an MMO.

    Fantastic.

You can't farm a public boss with a 45 second respawn for loot, no. You can farm actual group dungeons (those instanced 4 player things) to your heart's content. You can also farm overworld bosses if you want to.

I'm glad for the change. There was little risk for a ton of reward with the public dungeon farmers, bots or not.. it was actually preventing people who were legitimately questing from getting loot, and in some cases even gave them a hard time getting credit for the kill itself. I'm happy for the change, as are many others. Most people don't seem to be mad that they can't farm anymore, as that isn't truly the case.. they're more upset that the easiest option for farming I've ever seen in an MMO is being taken away.

You can't please everyone but if they don't stop the bots then there won't be many people playing anyway.

You say that like its a bad thing....

Farming isn't even slightly necessary in ESO, and I say that as someone leveling every tradeskill possible. Stop pretending its necessary, when the reality is you simply want easy.

I've said it before on this forum, too many "gamers" today have no skill and no desire to be challenged, they just want easy, no threat, no effort sparkly things so they can pretend.

Seeing angry farmers has always made me so happy!

I don't like farmers and bots alike. Say, yesterday I wasn't able to complete a dungeon in Deshaan because so many bots and farmers (mostly bots though) were attacking the boss once he's respawned and most of them were templars who have much faster attacks compared to my DK. I've tried for like 10 minutes but wasn't able to land a hit... not even once. And now I'm sooo happy to see that farmers/botters will be as frustrated as I was

And just to add, group dungeons will also have instanced loot for everyone sometime soon, I believe they would put that included to the boss timer change.

Yup, most of it is instanced already, only thing that isn't is the chests.. and they're changing that so that everyone in the group gets something. The group dungeons are also not getting hit by the boss timer, just the public stuff that is infested with people farming/botting atm.

    1. Farming is fun.
    2. They need to make a reason to redo the instanced dungeons.
    3. You will never get rid of the bots.

The good thing about changing public dungeons like this is that it pushes bots out in the open world and their rubbish software right now is fail out there.

Just saw 5 this morning, pacing back and forth over a 10 yard space in a fast mob spawning area, they kept dying, was hilarious.

I don't think this is a big issue in any case. Once you are out of starter zones the spam reduces and most people are going to be looking at end game when deciding to sub or not.

As far as more advanced bots being developed (which impacts players much more), that takes time and money and if the customer base isn't there to justify that cost, then you wont be seeing anything to fancy which I believe is the case here.

    That's actually two things.
Some players like to farm for things.

Then let them farm multiple mobs, not a single boss.

I'd also like to see people farm things that actually stand a chance of killing them instead of just waltzing through things like they're loot pinatas.

The only thing that ticks me off about farmers is they're taking the easiest route for the most gain, when in my experience most MMO developers have this unwritten "risk to reward" ratio going on for content/loot balance. What this means is the greater the risk, the greater the reward. The lesser the risk, the smaller the reward.
If you're farming something that literally has no chance of killing you, you should get no reward for killing it. Plain and simple. If that boss has NO CHANCE of taking out a group of four people? No reward for killing it.

To me, farming mobs that have no chance of killing you, yet you reap great rewards for farming them is akin to exploiting a loophole in the game design, and should be punished as such.

BUFF public dungeon bosses. Make them immune to knockback, stun and hold/immob effects. Make it so they can attack even when getting attacked, and their attacks can take a character out unless there's some kind of teamwork/healing going on. Have the boss randomly appear in the public dungeon. There's tons of things that can throw a monkey wrench into bot behavioral programs. Try those first?
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.
