Now ok I have tried every crafting in ESO about to 25 -30 in all but enchanting, darn slow leveling process, but while alchemy potions can get some really nice stats, anyone else feel that its kind of lack luster when compared to the other trades.
tools crafting, armors ect, you get lots of research options special crafting stations for awesome set bonuses as well as new material grades for each tier. enchanting ok so no research but there are literally hundreds of combinations of ingredients that can make all sorts of really neat stuff. alchemy has what 10 ingredients no special crafting toys no bonuses outside of speccing in it nothing. i mean you look at alchemy in past TES games and there are literally a vast selection of ingredients to work with to make a huge selection of fun stuff, from potions of night eye to detect abilities, while ok those things are not really seem implemented here i dont know, it just seems to me that the alchemy system was just thrown in and ignored. while the other crafts were emphasized. This is only made worse by the fact that, noticed today after making some nice 20+ potions, you cant seem to make any money crafting potions as the prices are so dirt cheap, and yea kinda looked at the high end ones on all my guild stores. seems most potions sell for is a whopping 10g max, this kinda makes alchemy even less of a crafting skill now when you compare enchants selling for hundreds if not thousands and have ultra rare crafting comps making them awesome. same with armor and weapons.
i dont know maybe something nice to do would implement a way to make higher grade potions not just higher level. like add a 2nd tier lab skill that allows you to add a 4th special booster to potions that can increase the bonuses. these boosters can only be found say randomly through harvesting plants and waters. everyone else thats not an alchie, can only make basic white, but with those boosters you can craft greens blues purple and even gold potions, or if not adding it to the lab skill make it have its own skill line that is kinda like leveling for runes in enchanting to craft the different levels.
While this wont address all the issues with alchemy it will atleast make it a little more interesting imo. Granted when poisons are finally added that will make things a bit better, but i think a rarity system would boost the poisons system drastically as well.
I know the last think people want to hear is UGH M O R E crafting ingredients, like we dont have ENOUGH, but alchemy just seems so lack luster that i think some more would do it good.
Thats not to say some of the potions arent really nice face it i have potions that increase spell power spell crit and spell resists, but something that can make alchies purr would be nice, yes i mean purr my alchie is a Khajiit
i remember reading another post on alchemy that complained about invisibility being so short. well think about it, a tiered system like that would make those potions more useful. a green invis potion, for non alchie could last 3.5 seconds instead of 3, a blue 4 a purple 4.5 those rare legendary ones could boost it up to 5 seconds, more than enough time for a non stealther to run away and live to fight another day.
Buff potions each tier could add say another second to the buff duration.
Face it i would also like to see real buff potions. there are so many different food choices what about adding some potion choices. you can have one food buff and say one potion buff. so you at that maggot pie or whatever for some health why not drink a potion for 30 minutes of increased armor as well or increase your magicka, sure you may say food increases magicka, but you only get one buff with food this would add a second long term buff and make alchemy again more useful.
