PEAK time maintenance may be acceptle for a FREE too PLAY game but not a monthly fee game, i thought the whole point of paying for a monthly fee game was so we wouldn't have too deal with this crap...pissed off rant over

It was an emergency situation. The login servers collapsed and things seemed to spiral downwards so they had to kill the servers.
It will be at least a couple of hours - source: Server Status forum0 -

This isnt the first time its happened there have been Official "Schedualed" peak downtime many a evening since launch.0 -

True, but they did specifically state this time around it was 'due to the login issues', before stating 'While we don't have an exact ETA for the server coming back online, it does appear that it will be at least a couple hours. Understand how you feel, but believe me the game wasn't playable today due to crashing on load screens, fps lag (which I rarely get due to hardware). Had to be done, rather it was fixed and not at all.0 -

But to answer your question. No, that is not the point of paying .50 cents a day. Your .50 cents goes into maintaining a a huge server farm, developers, website, employees, production costs, and a host of other endeavors that are required to run and maintain an enterprise this large in scope.
