Abuse in Zonechat

adamrobertfarmer
Okay, I should from the outset say that the abuse was not directed at me, but rather at other players, and I did not get involved, but would like to know if the behaviour I witnessed from one player is allowed, because it made me rather annoyed.

One player was abusing other people and threatening to get them banned from the server; the reason? botting, gold spaming? no, the reason was because he didn't like their names. Which I should clarify were not offensive, though they were perhaps not roleplaying names, but then there isn't a roleplaying server so what does this matter?

Should I report the player for this behaviour? Surely the abuse and threats are a violation of somekind? Or should I keep my nose out as it had nothing to do with me?

Thoughts are welcome.

If you feel herrassed by that person, or feel that they are going against the ToS, then I would say take a screenshot, send in a ticket with that screenshot of the conversation on the public channel.
It will be then be up to the appropiate powers to deal with it.
We're born, we live, we die. And along the way, you do the best with whatever crap you step in :p

I'm stranded all alone in the gas station of love, And I have to use the self-service pumps <3

Post Hoc Ergo Proptor Hoc o:)

Motivation alone is not enough. If i had an idiot with me and i motivated him, then i will have a motivated idiot to do stuff :s

That's the thing it wasn't directed at me.. I feel that perhaps I could be useful as a sort of corroborating witness.... but then again who knows. Thanks for the reply.

On the plus side, watching a flaming in zonechat was a nice change from gold spammers lol.

TBH you don't even need a screen shot as long as you logged the time date server they should be able to scroll thro the chat logs of that person.

That player's "threat" is moot really since not liking a name or not, all he can do is to report the name for being bad, and then it's ZOS to decide. In addition to this, you need to be aware that some names a problematic in certain countries - so, it's not always your very own judgement that counts.

Not that one can help a "bad character name" as player, and I have no idea how support will act, e.g. allowing a name change, deleting the character or whatever.

I suggest to put that guy on the ignore list and move on, the game clearly has more important problems than this.

This is one very good reason for NOT having the different player gaming types (PvE, PvP, RP and RP-PvP) on the same server.

I'd like to illustrate another possible future conflict between PvE'ers and PvP'ers that we might see in future TESO content.

In another game that I play, one of the recently developed zones has a game mechanic, where a player is able to flag themselves to everyone. This allows them to farm a very specific type of PvP currency. While flagging for PvP is usually done manually and by choice on the player's client on a PvE realm, there are ways for PvE'ers to avoid getting themselves accidentally flagged on the zone's world bosses and rare spawns, the big one is don't AoE.

Unfortunately on my PvE server, players that are eager to enjoy this PvP content are almost always verbally harassed by PvE'ers that don't know how to take AoE out of their rotation. This leaves someone that enjoys PvP with the option of transferring to a PvP realm or to avoid using the zone's PvP feature completely.
