Innocent people will do the same.
I literally watched my boyfriend manually stack items in the guild bank manually, as the patch notes stated he should do, prior to him being banned. The only thing he has to show for stacking items in the bank is hours of his life gone due to guild banks not working properly... not any special items or equipment. Anyone at Zenimax could clearly check the inventory and trade history to see that he hasn't gained anything.
And if you haven't noticed, the people who were banned are NOT posting in this forum because they ARE banned. This isn't a vocal minority, this is loved ones of innocent players who just want to enjoy an Elder Scrolls game together.
I understand where some forum contributors are coming from with their suspicions, and I had my own with false bans until the third person in my guild banned was my boyfriend, with the two previous bans being reversed.
This is clearly happening to many people, wives, girlfriends, friends, and family are speaking up for these people because this is nonsense and needs to be addressed immediately.
The backlash that these same loved ones will surely unleash on social media will be very detrimental to the game.

Because those people have their voice taken away so they cant slander and lie publicly, and for the very small number that get caught in the crossfire and wrongfully banned, they call customer service and get it sorted out - which is what you have to do in this case anyway. The whole PR hit is entirely unnecessary.
I think its sad how fast people defend "friends", people they know nothing about. Fact is, nobody except the banned person knows if he or she did exploit.
Ofc they wont say "I did exploit" to you, that would be silly don't you think? Its much easier to pretend "I am innocent"
Its the same situation we had at wow some time ago. There was a bugged boss that could be farmed over and over again, people abused it and were banned, claiming they did nothing wrong. There were even petitions running as a very popular wow guild was caught in the process.
I don't care..
They did a mistake .. they have to apologize and give us something for the troubles..
( You will not want many angry woman that can't play with their Husbands )
Thank you all for sharing your issues.

The least a company owes someone they suspend/ban is an email explaining the action they took and how the person can appeal it. Instead we have heard NOTHING from them. We have appealed and still have heard nothing.
