Cannot kill molag bal

So I killed molag bal and when I killed him it didn't do anything, it didn't carry on with the quest and he just stands there. I can't complete the last main story mission because of this bug, I teleported out of the zone and in and now I can't get through the massive portal either so now I can't even get to where molag bal is. Can someone please help!
