I wish I could tell you that Andy fought the good fight, and the Sisters let him be. I wish I could tell you that - but prison is no fairy-tale world. He never said who did it, but we all knew. Things went on like that for awhile - prison life consists of routine, and then more routine.

I would say this is false. I barely have enough time to play this past week, the most "cheating" ive done is farm dungeon bosses for about 5 hours.

Theyve already given me 3 days of free time. I just want to cancel my sub, I cant even do that.

Yes, because as we've seen numerous times already, it is impossible for Zenimax to make major mistakes.

When people were hit by the bank reset bug--the bug that wiped out all your bank upgrades and any gold in the bank--they also received extra copies of the explorer pack/imperial edition/et cetera rewards in the mail. In some cases the anti-duping algorithm appears to have triggered on this and handed these people a ban on top of their loss of upgrades, loss of gold, sometimes loss of items, and the frustration from an ineffective CS department.

Notice the different between a ban and a suspension. I can't speak for people who got a BAN.. but in the post, ZOS says

"We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to abusing exploitable bugs, and those who were found doing so have has their game account permanently banned."

I didn't get a ban and the vast majority of the people I'm talking about got suspensions, not bans. So to roll us into the "all these people who got banned must really be guilty" category is wrong.

Its the same thing. If it says you are suspended from the site that means you are banned.

Really? Cause I'll bet a majority of the bans are perfectly legit, but those guys aren't the ones coming here to complain--because they know they have no case. Believe me, if you were actually reading whining from everyone who got banned and deserved it, things would be a lot worse.

Naw, innocent people would not come to the forums and:

    -Slander the game
    -Slander ZoS
-Bring up unrelated bugs to further slander the game
-Bring up the girlfriend/wife/friend story we keep hearing
-Post hate in every thread in the forums

When you do that, you KNOW you have nothing to lose and are just going out in a blaze of embarrassment. Truly innocent players would be going through the actual support lines to get this rectified. Doing everything I mentioned above will NOT, in the slightest, help your case or get you in touch with someone who can help you. They're angry they got caught, and they're letting everyone know about it in a very childish way, by ripping apart a game and company they loved until they were caught abusing them.

Dude, vast numbers of people are getting banned because they got hit with the Banking Bug and got duplicated unique items that were sent to them by the game. So now they're doubly victims of ZOE's mistakes.

And I don't know how an exploiter thinks. But I do know that having an algorithm doing a job that requires judgement calls is going to result in a lot of mistakes.

(I have not been banned, for the record.)

I read a bunch of guys joking about the whole thing in a forum and saying how they'd come in and deny everything and try to get the decision reversed. So yeah the cheaters will be proclaiming their innocence very loudly.

This had been proved to not be true. Many people have the bank bug and are not banned. Many people that do not have the bank bug, are banned.

Its just another stupid forum rumor that riles people up but isn't true.

It's likely that most of the people "wrongfully banned" simply purchased high grade mats or items for very low prices either through private trade or via guild from dupers.

It's a common money laundering technique to provide a nominal sum in trade for duped goods to make it look like a legitimate transaction. E.g. paying 10% - 30% of the market price for goods.

Then their main account can either sell the items at market price (or even below it) and still make make lots of money.

Unfortunately for most of the innocent people banned there's a technique that makes it far more likely for the duper to keep their ill-gotten gains - just at the expense of other people.

Basically the duper uses a third account as a bagman and uses the general public to launder the money. This is where innocent people likely have gotten caught.

After they dupe a whole lot of items they then sell them to the general public for far below market price. The unsuspecting saps purchasing the items thinks they've made a great deal. What they don't realise is they have just been flagged as behaving like dupers.

So how does the duper get the money to their main account now? Simple - they get their main to put items up for auction at well above market prices. They then get the bagman account to buy those items (and probably a whole lot of items from other people too - the price doesn't matter, all the money is from duped items).

They then onsell these items for way below market price or give them away. Again all the people receiving the cheap or free items look like they are benefiting from the proceeds of crime while the duper's main account looks guilty of nothing except overpricing their goods on the auction house.

They have successfully transferred cash to their main and they've just made anyone who has purchased the underpriced goods look like the guilty party. They only get a fraction of the money they get from duping but since they can dupe as much in game currency as they want this is fairly irrelevant.

Examination of chat logs and the like during an appeal will likely clear all of the innocent people. But any automated script to find people benefiting from duping will likely pick up anyone who received a "bargain" from a duper.

Its funny everyone banned just happened to have multiple alts and just happened to have crashes when they are transferring stuff around. Odd thats how the dupe bug worked as well.

I have no idea how this dupe works. Yes I do have all 8 character slots filled. I also fell through the world because of a bug.(Saw on Reddit about someone getting banned for this because apparently that's how speedhacks or teleporting hacks work?) Just because I meet these requirements and happen to transfer a few things over to an alt because crafting mats take up an insane amount of room(Enchanting+Provisioner=Holy Bankspace), I don't think that is a justifiable reason to auto-ban someone.
Sure, if you see in the logs that a person suddenly and repeatedly gets gold items or doubles bank cash multiple times, that is definitely a justifiable ban.
But I did nothing wrong. Assuming everyone is guilty just because they got banned is idiotic. If you got banned, you would be on the phones and forums waiting for answers just like all of us.
Of course some of them were justified. But according to numerous posts, a lot of others are having this problem.

This is spot on. It is for this reason a lot of games don't ban for duping, but then the game gets known for allowing cheating and loses more customer than if they would have done what ZOS just did.
