patch actually patching?

my client version number when I log in says " eso.live.1.0.0.969973
im wondering if the patcher is even making any changes to the files or if it just forgot to update that little thing but im inclined to believe its not patching because I I noticed no change in lag or anything and as soon as I joined a group in cryodiil I crashed with unknown error.
I thought this patch was to fix that but its worse now and server lag is horrible and has progressivly gotten worse since launch as more people join. the server lag generally is at prime time and I cant play because it takes 2-3 seconds for anything to register. at night when I play in low population times the lag is gone and the game runs smooth ( in PvE anyways) but in early afternoon till nighttime its a lag fest ?
maybe im not getting the patches and I hope that's the case because currently I will not be subscribing again if this doesn't change before my free time is up

NightDragon✭✭I have the same version on the launcher but I don't get any lag just one or twice I got a big lag spike for some reason. I thought when I hear patch 1.03 it would actually show that as 1.0.3 etc so I'm a tad confused as well with the whole patching thing. If some one could please explain how to fix it I would like that or will it eventually fix on its own? Its not a huge bother to me but still would like to know.0
