Jumping torture

Is it just me or you guys also think that Jumping in this game is some kind of Torture. Specialy when you jumping on Horse.
I mean you literaly unable to jump over nearly anything you meet on your way.
And jumping physic just make me want to break my keyboard sometimes.

That might be some realism in that, but come on... this is a game. Why cant you simply make those crates or other thing just a bit smaller if you dont want to make us jump higher ?

I don't have a problem with jumping or horse jumping.

You can't jump over those crates ? Well, get around them.

If only it was an actual bug...and I don't think that's the case here.

I agree. The graphic collisions in this game are clunky. Run into a stick/rock/plant that is the same height as yer foot...BAM yer stuck. Try to jump over it when yer touching it, nope not happening.

I literally got stuck in a room for a good 10 minutes, after talking to a quest npc, because another npc had walked over to stand in the doorway and you couldn't get past it. W.T.F.

I don't even actually ride my horse because the mechanics drive me batty, can't jump if yer too close to something, can't start a jump from a stop, and the turning of the thing is just annoying for me. The worst part? the dismount.for.every.single.action. argh!

However, honestly at this point I'd rather see the game itself get stabilized before I start worrying about (mostly) avoidable annoyances.

The torture for me is having to put up with morons jumping around like 5-year-old olds on beeny bags. Why do MMOs with jumping attract those with hyperactivity disorders?

You can't start a jump from a stop with your horse. You just *can't* and it's intended this way. You must have some speed to jump over objects. I actually like it (but it's just my opinion...)

To be clear : horses are meant for travelling long distances at greater speed than on foot (think Cyrodiil). Not gathering, not fooling around in a camp/town full of objects. If you want speed over short distances, try sprinting, and/or get a skill point in "Rapid maneuver" skill.

As for NPC standing in doors, it happens, sadly (maybe an option to "push" them would be handy). But it's hardly a priority issue. And I prefer having NPC collision that sometimes (I should say rarely) is a pain in the a**, than no collision at all, especially with this type of combat mechanics. And if you're blocked, you have plenty of ways of getting out : travel to a friend/guildmate/groupmate, go to Cyrodiil, travel to wayshrine (ok it cost some gold), or use the stuck command ultimately.

You made me laugh, as I usually love to jump around :D If I see you around I'll try to restrain myself.

But seriously, all I see in this thread is complaining over a ridiculous issue. Okay, horse physics (or jump physics) is not perfect, but get over it, at least for some time. The CS forum is already overcrowded with obviously far more important issues.

I'm fairly certain that you can move THROUGH NPCs with a dodge roll. Try that next time they block a doorway or something.

I don't think the jumping thing is a bug or something gamebreaking, but it's annoying nonetheless.
If something is slightly bigger than your foot, you get stuck on it. A normal person could just walk over it.
If you try to jump over objects while being too close to them, you do an awkward in-place jump. Especially when on your horse.

I really think they should have made the jumping a lot easier to maneuver, since they even went out of their way to make some skyshards jumping-based to reach them.

    Pro tip: Don't jump.
They didn't fix the falling through the world/flung into the sky problem.

Besides, when you jump it's like heaving an elephant around.

I agree the jumping mechanics are really clunky in this game. Quite annoyingly so. The run animations are poor as well, especially for females. The inventory management UI blows chunks as well. The list goes on. I don't know why ZOS couldn't use some of the great addons made for Skyrim for this game, at least for a template. Oh, how I long for SkyUI.......

Overall, there are a lot of things I'd like to see evolve over time, but these are low on the priority list for the devs atm.

I love the jumping, both on foot and on horseback. It isn't too extreme, and not too tiny. I really really like that. So many games have annoyed me with one extreme or the other and finally some game got it right.

The horse control, animation and movement is far superior to any I've seen elsewhere. As for seeing myself jump, I play in first person so I can't comment on that other than the height achieved.

I tend to avoid games that don't let me jump at all because it feels so limiting. I like feeling like I'm getting somewhere off the beaten path.

To address the horse thing... jump while running but before you get to close. Once you get the hang of the timing on horseback it no longer becomes a problem.

My horse is hard to jump from a standstill. It seems to require actual forward momentum to work, and not just the player pressing forward while jumping. While more "realistic" - that is not how it should be done because it hinders travel and increases the probability of getting stuck.

the first time my horse balked at having to go down a steep rocky slope made me laugh... it was so real. I then learned to go around objects a mount wouldnt do naturally or if it does may break his leg. it was a tad annoying at first but im used to it now
