Account re Activated after Banning in Error

I wanted to take the opportunity to let those who supported me through the period of time I was banned in error that my account has now been fully restored and apologies given from ESO.
All those who assumed my banning was indeed because I was a gold selling cheat can now take note that yes, sometimes mistakes do happen. I hope you are less scathing to others who have, and continue too, fall prey to the banning gods of ESO.

I doubt any of the gold sellers are posting here on the forums. Did people actually assume you were a gold seller?

Glad to hear that your account has been restored! I've not played as much as I'd like to due to having reported/ignored several gold spammers in a row & then suddenly getting booted from the server due to "spamming" chat (when in fact I'd only asked ONE question ONE time). Thankfully I was able to log back in but I'd come here to check out what was up with that only to find that people were being banned in error & was very grateful that I was only booted & not banned. These gold spammers are just scum & I wish they'd get rid of them!

unfortunately Holycannoli some people believe that banning is indeed proof of breaking of TOS and are unable to believe that it could happen to someone who has done nothing.

Banning is proof of breaking of TOS. Unbanning is proof that the first proof was wrong.

@lordrichter , I was never given an explanation as to why I was banned other than they are now trying to adjust the parameters for catching gold sellers.

Glad to hear you were unbanned Pinkenbah. I am on day 2 of my ban for no reason after submitting tickets so I guess I will be unbanned sometime this month as well. Lovely customer service.

I can't say that was said about Pinkenbah, but it was DEFINITELY said about others who were banned with no reason given right about the time the gold spammers hit in force (about day 2 of the 5 day early access). What seemed to be happening was that those who were really zealous about reporting/ignoring the gold spammers were being banned suddenly, without warning, recourse or explanation.

Of course, now they apparently have taken to using empty spaces to push the actual beginning of their posts (showing their actual name) above the top of the chat box & then starting a new line with [name] so that it looks like the 2nd name is the spammer's name & from what I've read they're pulling actual player names from chat to put in there so innocent players are being reported for gold spamming when they're not involved.

Part of me really doesn't want to leave the baby areas....

Not that I believe that you are a gold selling cheat, but how does getting unbanned prove that you aren't. All it really proves is that you talked your way out of a ban, lol.

Well as someone else mentioned above, it's so incredibly unlikely that real gold spammers would come here to complain about being banned in the first place & secondly... look at the name! It's Pinkenbah, not fjdlkjeamlkmseljhsn.

I'm glad it got cleared up for you. Sometimes there are 'false positives' in the war against gold sellers, but it's a war that must happen all the same.

You don't have to prove you aren't, they have to prove you are. I figure the fact that he's posting here plus the fact that they have a very flawed automated system that's incorrectly flagging people as gold sellers gives plenty of reasonable doubt.

I was mainly trying to be light hearted about his being reinstated. However, I do agree with you. I personally am not a fan of letting any automated program ban folks from a game that has a monthly fee. If I am going to be banned then I at least deserve a Game Master telling me why they are banning me and telling me how I can appeal.

I have never heard of false positives of this scale in an MMO. Surely there are better methods of verifying cheaters/gold sellers. You might have a different opinion if it were to happen to you.

I assume the autobanbot they've got running is watching people for passing particular amounts of gold from one to another... This wouldn't be the first case if this is why the OP was banhammered.

Yea at one point they had the amount of gold set lower than the price of some of the horses, so folks were getting banned for giving their alts or friends gold for a horse, very much bad.

I think this thread is an example of why they shouldnt allow people to discuss disciplinary actions on the forums. The OP was accused of being a gold seller or buyer obviously wasnt because he was unbanned. Then you get the rumor guys started where people say "Oh a freind of a friend's cousin's step brother said people got banned for something!".

Not all of the people who post in here about bans have to be false positives. I am sure some were banned, and remained banned, for valid reasons that we will never know.

Also, many other games make it a policy to prohibit discussions about bans, so if they are mentioned in the forums where people can see it, they tend to get deleted quickly.
