Can we have a continuous 1st person view experience please?

Hi fellow,

Do you enjoy exploring TESO in 1st person view? I do.
Really cool and immersive, isn't it?

...at least until we are forced into 3rd person view when swimming, riding mounts, harvesting...

So here is my pray to the creators of Tamriel:

Please make 1st person view possible everywhere in every situation with no break.
Please give a continuous 1st person view, complete immersion experience to this great game!

and you fellow, if you agree with this, do not forget to endorse this post here ;)

Agreed. It's a bit annoying when the camera automatically changes from 1st person to 3rd person and vice versa. :(

    I will support this.
I always preferred the 1st person view, 3rd person feels awkward and a clumsy way of play for me.

When I am then forced into 3rd person whenever I mount up, go swimming or harvest resources, I feel as if I'm getting it slammed into my face that I'm actually playing a game rather than immersing myself in a believable world.

It literally ruins the fun for me and more often than not I find myself getting bored of playing and log off.

Really need a feature request section on these forums for stuff like this, but in the meantime...seriously??

People are having issues with missing items and banks, game crashes, broken quests blocking progress, and you are posting requests about 1st person view? Something like that is SO miniscule compared to the other real issues that support should be addressing.

If that's what is important to you, fine, but take a moment to read some of these other threads, gain a little perspective on what real support priorities might be, and think twice before you start making ridiculous requests like these in a customer support forum.

One they did not even want to have 1st person before but people demanded it be like Skyrim.

Two Skyrim kicks you to 3rd person when riding a horse or mining ore.

I remember riding a horse in first person in Skyrim (not sure if I had to use a mod or not); it was awesome though. However, as much as I'd like to play seamlessly in first person, I don't know how anyone can play first person right now with the horrible field of view. I'd say getting that FoV slider out should be the priority, then after that work on adding the missing first person views for swimming/horse/harvesting.

I loved the idea, until the fact that most teleports, charges and gap closers put you INTO the enemy model instead of next to it. Feeling of "floating" is not making it better either.

It's surely not the hottest issue right now, but I would like to see improvements on it in the future.

Oh I'm fully aware of all the other problems thank you very much, I encounter far too many of them myself, but that dont change the facts I find this boht annoying and immersion breaking to the point where I actually lose interest in playing.

It may not be an issue for you, but for some people it is.

And just to make it clear since you need everything spoonfed to you.
I am not in any way saying that this should take priority over bugs and other major issues, just that its something that should be changed when there is a chance to do it.

Do you people realize how many additional graphics and animations they would have to create to simulate a first person view for things like riding your horse, harvesting resources (a different animation for each resource), swimming (lol @ that one- you want you screen half taken up by water)??

Yeah it's all doable, but this is such a backlog type issue, I'd expect that if/when they ever get all their real bugs worked out, it will be time to focus on things like new zones and expansions, not...this. If this is really that big of an issue for you that it makes you lose interest in the game, maybe this is not the game for you. You should be happy they added a first-person view at all.

Like @Blackwidow said, don't hold your breath. (Hah, wonder what that first-person animation would look like).

Remember that not even Skyrim had a constant 1st person view and the game would often place you in third person for mining, riding and some other tasks.
It might be more work than is worth it in regards to putting this into the game, but we shall see.

To those ones posting here with fear, pretentiousness or disdain, I should say your fears and confusion will never speak good for you, so swallow your words and think twice before posting folks!

    Let me clarify for you:

I've had the chance to take part in bugs rapports since beta tests. I have adressed numbers of bugs (quests, ui, gameplay glitches, launcher's crazyness). Many of thoses issues has been solved and some suggestions we have made have been luckily heard by Zenimax. So i do not feel too ridiculous about suggesting things based upon my game exeprience. Of course bugs are the "hottest" things to solve with highest priority but comparing with beta state, we can say it is on wheels now. This topic about 1stPerson playing is just user's feedback, so opposing it against bugs repports is non-sense. How important it can be for me and others, this has no pretention to take priority over anything else. It is just about making some suggestions to improve the overall game experience for those who loves the ElderScrolls serie to its core. This is a well-grounded request adressed the ones being able to anderstand what immersion means. Once you've experience it, this will sound real issues for you too. Just informing Zenimax about our concern and the way we love to play ESO. Zenimax is clever enough to focus on what their priority should be to improve their game. Having fear about that comes from your wrong felling of being superior to other people out there! Quite a pretentious and bad way of thinking that i invite you to overcome in your futur posts.

Like @Blackwidow said, don't hold your breath. (Hah, wonder what that first-person animation would look like).

Well, there is no need for more animations or extra work if this feature is being implemented the right way!
Just take a look at this very cool Skyrim mod ImmersiveFirstPersonView like Drazhar14 is refering to. This allows 1stperson view in EVERY situation with no need for extra animation (in Skyrim).

    How it works?

Technicaly speaking, it just moves the camera to the head of your 3rd person model, so that you can experience exactely what your character sees:
    • allow 1st person view with your complete body ! No more "floating" in the air like a ghost but rather embodies your character.
    • 1st person body is now casting shadows (this one makes a huge difference in dungeon exploration)
    • no more need for specific 1st person animations! The 3rd person's ones is ok: walking running, sneaking, fighting, harvesting, crafting, mounting, swimming, and even sleeping in skyrim... ;) Doing all this things in 1st person view really enhance the game experience with a way better immersion.
    • No more "floating" in the air like a ghost but rather better embodies your character. Just look down and see your feet touch the ground and look how cool your armor fits to you.
    • No more "steady-like" motions but rather experience the forces that can unbalance your body sometimes and gives you more engaging combats (more realistic and viceral) as well as epic mounts ridings!
    • Head bobing (with configurable amount to fit everyone's taste)
With this "trick" (vs the vanilla "fake" and separated 1st person view) you can benifit so many improvements at the cost of a tiny developpement effort!

I still play Skyrim after 3 years because of this kind of feature but now ESO is begging for it! ;)
I hope the right people at Zenimax will read this, so if you feel concerned about it, spread the word!

    Cheers!

if you want to have force first person as a toggle fine, but wait, you have some really bad voice overs on characters that don't match.

Examples: Orcs sound like pure humans, no grittiness to them at all. They SHOULD sound like they all just smoked an entire carton of Marlboro's. Even the females, most...purest voice overs.

A quest portrays the ghost of a child as a gruesome specter missing its lower jaw...thought this was a child, not something that had a run in with a wood-chipper. but an ugly ghast with a childs voice. even wow took a childs sprite and made them transparent. they tried, this is lazier developing than what DICE does.

immersion, what a joke that word is, half think one tiny little thing breaks immersion, not really understanding just how bad the immersion really is overall or what the word means. Lawnmower man, THAT IS IMMERSION...this is escapism.

Enjoy your first person with absolutely no situational awareness as to what's going on behind you. you'll be useless in every fight.

    Yeah, I can't let this go. :)

There is great situational awareness in first person view. You just have to know how to play that way. I play in first person view in every MMO I play.

With the tools ESO has provided, it is the easiest to play in first person view than any other MMO out there.

My brother and I play together all the time. He plays in 3rd person view. I have much greater awareness of the area than he does by a long shot. (to be fair, he is a ***, but I digress)

My main is a healer. I am constantly asked to be on people friends list after I go through a dungeon with them because I am a great player in first person mode.

I did initially find the third-person swimming to be a bit weird, but considering that you can't dive, it makes sense to me. As for horse riding and resource gathering, this is like the vanilla Skyrim experience. I'm sure people will find ways to mod first-person, so you can download it, but personally I like being able to see my character do something in the world every once in a while. It reminds me of all the effort that I had put into making her and lets me continue to appreciate the character creation process.
And actually, when I'm gathering resources I find my game glitches more often than not so that I can't see my character, which rather bothers me. But whatever, to each his own.

Immersion is a game design approach. A more intuitive, life-like viceral experiencing vs distant computer-like ui tweaking. It has been introduced by early RolePlaying games and greatly developped with ElderScrolls serie.
    Paul said
“Modern” and “immersive” are two key words I’ll concentrate on for this letter. To many people, they mean many different things. To us, it means removing a lot of the UI elements. Concentrating less on long narrative text and fine number-crunching math, and more on things like a visceral, active combat system, voice-over with believable writing and acting, player choice, etc. Players should be playing in the world-space, and not watching the UI.
What you see and experience in the game versus the UI is key, much more so than math and text appearing everywhere.

You are definitly not playing it the right way. I succesfuly leveled my character to lvl 13 while playing exclusivlely in 1st person and winning so many glorious combats!
