[FIXED] root cause of many login issues - with workaround for error 209

Well, seems fixed for now, for me at least. Used to get 209 all the time, used the magic edit-the-hosts-file workaround, worked. Edited the hosts file back now, launcher opens fine, play button active and all, seems to work(can't check game itself while it's down for more maintenance...hope this one doesn't break it again, at least), that's good.
Would have been even better if it was done earlier - or never happened at all, of course>_>

It was fixed yes, but before the maintenance (like 2 days ago).

Well had this problem after yesterdays patch. Ended up reinstalling because the patch deleted launcher files, and got the 209 error as well. Tried this and now it is working great. thank you

Yeah, think it may have reoccurred after yesterday's patch, maybe only affecting 1 of the patch servers. Yesterday I patched, played, everything fine, came out of game, "patch manifest error". So I think whichever patch server I was connected to at that time may have been out of date.

I tried pinging all the addresses listed and get timeouts. Earlier today I was getting responses from 174.* now everything times out.

Give this man a medal, or at least a free month sub. for this game because he just saved you from loosing another customer. My client crashed during battle in Cyrodiil and I couldn't get back in - no play button and same problems as above. If I had to go through standard customer support sh.. like deactivate antivirus etc. for something that couldn't have broken my client in the first place, that would have been it for me.
