To FIX repair issue do THIS.....

Open your explorer file browser, go to C:/Zenimax Online/game/game client and double click eso.exe to start the game...

I'm currently using this workaround to bypass the launcher failure. Launcher still asking me to install the game and yelling at me to clear up 60 GB of space.

Yes, a fix is something that allows you to get past a "bug" that is causing an issue. I am not on the Zenimax development team so "fixing" things properly is NOT part of my job and seeing as Zenimax is NOT doing their job properly, as in making it so their launcher can actually launch their game, I posted a "fix" to get around their incompetence.

Thanks was getting error 209 and it was asking me to contact customer support but this worked.

Although this allows me to get into the game and play, the launcher error needs to be fixed ASAP. The game cannot be patched without a functioning launcher.

I just wanted to add in to this because i found something on mine not mentioned here. The shortcut on my desktop (made by the game when installed) would not actually update and therefore would give me a multitude of errors. Same with launching the exe that links to the game launcher. However using the shorcut that installed into my START MENU BAR did patch the second I ran it and all my problems were then fixed.

Very odd. On my system there are two launcher icons. One on the desktop and a second that I pinned to the taskbar earlier today. After the patch the one on the desktop kept giving me the 209 error but then on a whim I thought to try the one on the taskbar and it worked first time.

But I never saw clear description of where the .version files where located. So no wonder everyone is having issues. IF YOU DELETED VERSION FILES THEN RESTORE THEM. It works. It fixed aLL my friends.

Sorry Jessica, Cant you see the Irony in your post. bypassing the 'recent fixes' allows us to actually play the game. In my position here Using the patcher/launcher 'does' cause any number of issues and isnt recommended.

The workround advice posted on the site doesnt resolve the issues and re-downloading the entire game every time your patches break my installation isnt satisfactory lets be honest.

To me to get it to work is when the white box shows up click at the top the update link and about 10 secs or so goes by then says game is up-to-date. Then the repair switched to play.

Just to throw my hat in the ring I was also affected by this. I did a repair and after about 2 minutes it came back and said I need 60Gb free (ssd so no way). I then shut down the launcher, restarted it and got the magical PLAY button again.

so instead of telling us what is not recommended how about you tell us how to fix the problem. or better yet tell me how to get a refund for a completely broken game that i paid way to much for.

While that's nice information its not helping the fact that the Error 209 is preventing patching of the game. Any word on when that will be fixed?

This worked for me. I'd already downloaded the patch and then logged out and couldn't get back in due to the 207 issues.

ETA: The problem seems to be the launcher.

It appears they did not remove the 'Beta' switch from the shortcut.

Right click the shortcut and Properties. You should see a 'switch' at the end of the "Target: " string.

Removing this stopped the error. Even if it doesn't for you. Remove it anyway it's specifically for the ESO Beta and should no longer be passed to the Launcher.

EDIT: If you see the switch please post it. I failed to copy the string to the clipboard before applying the change

Really? So your saying its possible to play with an old version? I always thought that MMO servers wouldn't let you connect if you didn't have the most up-to-date version. No wonder there are so many bots!!!

Actually I think maybe they did finally fix it, after several reboots of my PC my launcher now reports it as not needing repairs now and all is working fine.

Thanks for the fix Zenimax, not sure if you guys and gals did anything about it but it works and that's all that is important because I do love playing this awesome game!
